Update: 40-50 head of cattle dead after Cass County Crash

On April 27th at approximately 04:15am, Harrisonville Police and Emergency Services were dispatched to NB I-49 at mile marker 159 for a motor vehicle accident involving a cattle truck. 

When officers arrived they contacted two injured parties, one male and one female. Both subjects were transported to Research Main with minor injuries. 

The truck contained approximately 80-100 head of cattle of which approximately 40-50 are deceased. At this time, the cause of the accident in under investigation. 

Assisting on scene are the Cass County Sheriff's Office and the Missouri Highway Patrol.

The road is open at this time.

Sunny and Rain Free Weekend

There's plenty more nice weather to come as we head into the weekend. Rain/storms return Tuesday, but until then, we'll see a lot of sun with ideal spring temps.





Stolen truck recovered from Cedar County

Update: the truck has been recovered.
Earlier today a hunter green 1995 Dodge Dakota extended cab with Missouri license plates of 9HX853 was stolen from the 400 block of North St. James Street in El Dorado Springs, Missouri. 

The vehicle is similar but not the same as the one in the picture. If you see the vehicle please contact the Police Department or your local Law Enforcement agency.





Obituary - Mary Louise "Mary Lou" Stafford

Mary Louise “Mary Lou” Stafford, 83 of Harrisonville, Missouri, passed away April 26, 2018 at Adrian Manor in Adrian, Missouri. Graveside services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, April 28, 2018 at the Stafford Family Cemetery in Beaver Township, near Bradleyville, Missouri with Pastor Ron Dunlap officiating. 

There is no visitation. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Stafford Family Cemetery. Messages and memories of condolence for the family may be left at www.mullinaxfuneralhome.com.

Northbound I-49 closed due to accident in Harrisonville

TRAFFIC ALERT!
Northbound I-49 is closed at the Commercial Street exit because of an overturned cattle trailer. 
Traffic is being routed through Harrisonville at Commercial Street and back onto northbound I-49 at the Mechanic Street. 

Southbound I-49 remains open to vehicular traffic. PLEASE AVOID THE AREA IF POSSIBLE.
We will advise when the interstate is back open and appreciate your patience.

Obituary- Linda K. Hale

Linda K. Hale, 69, Sheldon, MO passed from this life on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at her home in Sheldon following a lengthy illness. Linda was born January 18, 1949 in Richmond, CA to Lewis Sanford and Joan Louise (Cochran) Cass. On August 4, 1966 she was united in marriage to Larry J. Hale in Lawson, MO and he preceded her in death on October 24, 2015.

Linda was born in California but came to Sheldon at a young age with her family. Her family also lived in Lawson, MO for a time and she graduated from Springfield Glendale High in 1967. Following high school she attended SMSU and graduated in 1971 with a degree in business. Linda worked alongside of Larry in the real estate business for over 40 years and in addition to that they also farmed and raised cattle all of their lives. She was member of Sheldon Cristian Church, Missouri Cattleman’s Association, Republican Inner Circle, and the National Association of Realtors.

Survivors include one son, Dakota Hale, Oronogo, MO; two grandchildren, Kyra Hale, Koby Hale; mother, Joan Antle, Nevada; and one brother, Charles Cass, Cape Fair, MO. In addition to her husband Larry, she was also preceded in death by her father.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, April 30, 2018 at Sheldon Cemetery in Sheldon, MO with Pastor Roger Beach officiating. The family will receive friends from 3-5:00 p.m. on Sunday at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada.



Memorials may be made in her memory to the Sheldon Cemetery Association in c/o Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada.
