Larry and Pam finally moved home to Missouri in 1999 after his second retirement, residing in Appleton City, where Larry served as mayor from 2001-2004, where he proved instrumental in securing the Dollar General Store and the TIFF program.

Apart from this, the most important thing to Larry was his family, especially his children and grandchildren, who he loved spending time with. He further enjoyed serving as a park attendant at Sparrowfoot campground for eight years during his retirement. One of his favorite activities was traveling throughout the United States with his family in their RV. He will be deeply missed by his friends and family.
