Wanted Person Captured in Lowry City

On July 4, a St. Clair County deputy was dispatched to NE 969 Private Road in reference to a possible shooting suspect.

The deputy was advised through dispatch to be on the lookout for a male subject with long brown hair, blue jeans, and a black leather vest, driving a white in color pickup. The individual was wanted by the Hickory County Sheriff’s Office in connection to a shooting incident.

Upon arrival, the deputy observed a white in color 2002 Ford Ranger in the yard of the residence with an individual matching the description sitting in the driver’s seat, who appeared to be asleep.

A second deputy arrived on scene and both deputies approached the vehicle. The deputies were able to awaken the subject and assist him out of the vehicle. When the subject exited the vehicle, a stainless 9mm semi-automatic handgun was found in the driver’s seat.
The subject was identified as Calvin Baker.

Upon further searching the individual, a metal container was found on his person that contained a small plastic straw, three zip lock baggies, and a small piece of black plastic. The zip lock baggies contained a white crystal like residue. The residue did field test positive for methamphetamine's.

The subject, along with the weapon, were transported to the St. Clair/Hickory County line and transferred into the custody of the Hickory County Sheriff’s Office.
Charges are pending out of St. Clair County.


4 from Nevada injured in Vernon County rollover accident

On 7/5/18 around 8:00pm the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Vernon County along with Vernon County Sheriff's Office responded to a one vehicle rollover accident around 5 miles north of Nevada on I-49.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2004 Chevrolet Venture Van driven by 15 year old Kassandra M. Grant swerved right to miss another vehicle, over corrected traveling off the left side of the roadway and overturning.

Four occupants in the vehicle 40 year old Nathaniel Gordon, 15 year old Kassandra Grant, 13 year old Kendall Grant, 13 year old Kyle Nelson all sustained minor injuries in this accident and all were transported to Nevada Regional Medical Center for treatment.

The van was totaled and towed from the scene by Phillips Tow of Nevada.

Deepwater man injured in Henry County motorcycle Crash

On 7/5/18 around 7:51pm the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Henry County along with Henry County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a one vehicle accident on Route BB just north of Route Z in rural Henry County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2016 Suzuki driven by 31 year old Matthew A. Smith of Deepwater, Missouri ran off the right side of the roadway and was ejected.

Mr. Smith sustained minor injuries in this accident and he was transported to Belton Regional Medical Center for treatment.

The Suzuki was towed from the scene by the wife of Mr. Smith.

Archie man arrested in Bates County

On 7/6/18 around 12:55am the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Bates County arrested 32 year old Nicholas L. Anderson of Archie, Missouri.

Mr. Anderson was arrested for 1.) Felony Possession of a Controlled Substance 2.)No license plate light.

He was booked into the Bates County Jail in Butler and later released.

Rich Hill man arrested in Butler

Austin K. Baumgardner
On 7/4/18 around 10:30pm the Butler Police Department arrested 22 year old Austin K. Baumgardner of Rich Hill, Missouri.

Mr. Baumgardner arrested for 1.)Unlawful Use of Drug Paraphernalia 2.)Assault 4th Degree 3.) Possession of a controlled substance.

He was booked into the Bates County Jail and placed on a $30,000 cash/surety bond.

Obituary - Ronald Duane Lybarger

Ron's wishes were to be cremated. A private graveside will be held at a later date.

Ronald Duane Lybarger was born February 29, 1939 in Westphalia, Kansas the son of Charles Wilson Lybarger and Ruth Leonard Heck Lybarger.

Ron worked for many years as a produce manager in the grocery business. He was preceded in death by his wife Judy Osborn Lybarger on January 8, 2015.
