The deputy was advised through dispatch to be on the lookout for a male subject with long brown hair, blue jeans, and a black leather vest, driving a white in color pickup. The individual was wanted by the Hickory County Sheriff’s Office in connection to a shooting incident.
Upon arrival, the deputy observed a white in color 2002 Ford Ranger in the yard of the residence with an individual matching the description sitting in the driver’s seat, who appeared to be asleep.
A second deputy arrived on scene and both deputies approached the vehicle. The deputies were able to awaken the subject and assist him out of the vehicle. When the subject exited the vehicle, a stainless 9mm semi-automatic handgun was found in the driver’s seat.
The subject was identified as Calvin Baker.
Upon further searching the individual, a metal container was found on his person that contained a small plastic straw, three zip lock baggies, and a small piece of black plastic. The zip lock baggies contained a white crystal like residue. The residue did field test positive for methamphetamine's.
The subject, along with the weapon, were transported to the St. Clair/Hickory County line and transferred into the custody of the Hickory County Sheriff’s Office.
Charges are pending out of St. Clair County.
