As “YOUR” Presiding Commissioner, Jim Wheatley has looked at many paths, angles and avenues to get companies to look at Bates County. Several growing communities are doing the same thing.
Jim is working hard for the People to bring in good jobs that will support families and improve the life styles of everyone in Bates County.
Bates County has a lot to offer companies as far as a ready work force, space and access to various means of transportation.

Bates County has a much more accessible rail system than other counties bordering us. Bates County now has Interstate 49 (I-49) that runs from the Gulf of Mexico to the Canadian Border, although most of it is still US 71 outside of Missouri.
Economic Development is the key to growing Bates County. This is not something that happens overnight, it takes time to see results.
