Charges Filed in Cass County Homicide Case

Cass Co – On Friday, December 7, around 4:30 pm Cass County Deputies responded to 1007 N. Jerry, Raymore after receiving a 9-1-1 call about a disturbance in progress. The caller stated that her estranged husband entered the residence by breaking a window and was fighting with the victim. The caller stated that during the fight the victim was stabbed with a knife and the suspect fled the scene in a vehicle.

Personnel from South Metro Fire Department arrived on scene and began treating the victim, however he died from his injuries before being transported.

At approximately 6:40 pm members of the Cass County Sheriff’s Criminal Apprehension Unit located the suspect to a residence in the 7000 block of E. 160th in Belton, Missouri. He was taken into custody without further incident.

The victim is identified as Brian A. Kile, 44, Raymore. The suspect is identified as John W. Adams, 41, Raymore.

Today the Cass County Prosecutors Office charged John W. Adams with First Degree Murder. He is currently in custody at the Cass County Jail on a $250,000 cash only bond.


Update: One arrested after wild police chase in Bates County

On 12/7/2018, an Adrian Officer observed a vehicle parked on the side of the road that matched the description of a stolen truck out of Vernon County earlier in the day.

The Officer attempted to conduct and investigative stop when the driver  fled westbound on 1st St at a high rate of speed. The pursuit left town on 18 Hwy as the Officer maintained a visual on the truck. When the
driver was unable to lose the Officer, he left the roadway in an attempt to flee from the pursuing Officer.

Additional units were in the area to setup a perimeter. The Officer observed the truck in the field opposite of where he left the roadway and was able to catch up to it. The driver drove the truck into a creek, got stuck, fled from the vehicle and ran into a nearby timber line.

With the help of a nearby MSHP Helicopter, we were able to locate the suspect hiding in the timber where he was apprehended and taken to the hospital for evaluation.

The suspect Ryerson, Paul Micheal was charged with the following:

Fail to Maintain Right Half of Roadway
Fail to Stop at Stop Sign x4
Exceeding Posted Speed
Careless and Imprudent Driving
No Valid Operator’s License
Receiving Stolen Property
Fail to Yield to Oncoming Traffic
Driving Under the Influence

Additional charges are pending for Resisting Arrest by Fleeing and  Tampering with a Motor Vehicle (Stealing)(Vernon County).

Obituary - Gray Watson Clark

Gray Watson Clark, age 77, or rural Schell City, MO, passed away at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, MO, on Wednesday evening, December 5, 2018. Gray was born November 7, 1941, in Washington, D.C., the son of Paul Hudson Clark and Alma (Blackburn) Clark. Gray resided in Bladensburg, Maryland, during his youth and graduated from Bladensburg High. 

Gray is a graduate of the University of Maryland. On June 20, 1965, the week after graduation, he married Linda Lee Chamness in the little chapel on the campus of the University of Maryland.

Gray loved his country. After he and Linda were married, he served in the Army during the Vietnam War.

In June 1972, Gray and his family moved from Maryland to Schell City, MO. Here he spent the bulk of his adult life serving God and the congregation of the Church of Israel as assistant pastor.

Along with being a loving husband and father, Gray had many interests. He had a passion for studying the great men who founded our country. His favorites included George Washington, Stonewall Jackson, and Robert E. Lee. He also loved West Virginia, the place where the Clark family originated. He enjoyed sports. His favorite was basketball, and he continued to play pick-up games into his early 70s. His greatest passion, however, was Christian education. He, along with his wife, devoted their lives to teaching and encouraging young people not only in academics but also to live Godly lives. Gray was community-oriented. He ran for Northern commissioner in the mid-90s and had been instrumental in organizing the National Day of Prayer event held at the Vernon County Courthouse each May.

Preceding Gray in death were his wife Linda, and his parents.

Survivors include his four children: Glenda Brehm and husband Daniel of Schell City, MO; Manda Moore and husband Brad of Carterville, MO; Nathan Clark and wife Richelle of Schell City, MO; and Jennifer Cozad and husband Pat of Port Charlotte, FL; and two grandchildren: Ethan and Maddison Clark of Schell City, MO.

Funeral services for Gray Clark were held on Monday, December 10, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of Israel with Pastor Dan Gayman and Pastor Reed Benson officiating. Interment followed in the Hilltop Cemetery under the direction of Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were: Nathan Clark, Ethan Clark, Dan Brehm, Brad Moore, Reed Benson, Bob Burney, Al Vanest, and Tony Smith.

Police searching for subjects who fled after pursuit in NW Bates County

The Missouri State Highway Patrol along with Bates County Sheriff's Office ended a police pursuit with a stolen flat bed GMC truck that fled from officers.

The pursuit ended when the vehicle traveled through a bean field and crashed into a creek bed around the area of CR 8001 and CR 10002 in rural Amsterdam at this time. 

A helicopter is on scene at to help in the search for subjects who fled on foot north. No clothing description has been made available to us. Please avoid this area as a police presence is heavy.

Obituary - Steven Leon Campbell

Steven Leon Campbell, 76, formerly of Nevada, MO passed away on Friday, December 07, 2018 at his home in Hazelwood, MO. 

He was born September 6, 1942 in Pryor, OK to Walter Lee and Lucybelle (Compton) Campbell.

Additional family and service information will be announced by Ferry Funeral Home at a later time.


Homicide Investigation in Raymore

The Cass County Sheriff's Office is currently investigating a possible homicide in the 1000 block of N. Jerry east if Raymore.

No information about the victim is available at this time.

Investigators are working with area law enforcement to locate the suspect who fled from the scene in a vehicle.
