YOU are invited to our Candlelight Communion Service at Butler Presbyterian Church on Sunday at 5:00 PM. This will REALLY be a special service. 

Carols, Scripture, Holy Communion which is OPEN TO ANYONE, and the lighting of Christmas candles in our 135 year-old sanctuary. Music by the Butler Brass, the Methodist/Presbyterian Choir, and our own piano & organ accompanists.

If you would like to hear an uplifting message about the birth of our Savior, please come and join us.

CHILDREN are very welcome as we will have a special message for them and nursery available.

Archie man arrested after barricading himself in Adrian home

Matthew A. Keck
The Adrian Police Department along with Bates County Sheriff's Deputies arrested 32 year old Matthew A. Keck of Archie yesterday after he fled from officers and barricaded himself in a home located at 20 W. 6th Street in Adrian.

Mr. Keck was taken into custody after a short time without incident. He was charged with the following:

1.) Resisting/Interfering with an arrest for a Felony (X2)
2.) 4th Degree Felony Assault 

Matthew A. Keck was booked into the Bates County Jail in Butler and he was placed on a $24,500 Cash/Surety bond.

Obituary - Anne L. Oden

Anne L. Oden, 54 of Branson, Missouri passed away December 15, 2018 at Shepherd of the Hills Nursing Home in Branson. 

Services are pending at this time and will be announced by Mullinax Funeral Home, Butler (660-679-0009).

Appleton City woman injured in Cass County rollover accident

On 12/17/18 around 7:15pm the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Cass County along with Cass County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a one vehicle rollover accident on southbound I-49 at mile marker 153.6 near 307th street in rural Cass County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2003 GMC Envoy driven by 53 year old Michelle L. Goetz of Appleton City, Missouri traveled off the left side of the roadway, driver over corrected and traveled back onto the roadway and rolled several times.

Michelle L. Goetz sustained serious injuries in this accident and she was transported to St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri for treatment.

The GMC Envoy was totaled and towed from the scene by Johnson's Tow of Harrisonville.

State of Missouri Endangered Person Advisory

The Springfield Police Department has issued an Endangered Person Advisory for a missing person incident that occurred at 720 North Elder Ave Springfield, MO at 5:40 PM on 12/17/2018.

Missing Is:

Shelby S. Smith a white, male, age 32

The endangered missing person:

Shelby S. Smith, is a white, male, age 32, hgt 6'2", 235 lbs, brown hair, blue eyes, fair complexion, with long, scraggly hair and a chin strap beard, wearing gray hooded sweatshirt, unknown color long sleeve flannel shirt, jeans and boots.

Brief circumstances regarding the Endangered Missing Person incident:

Smith has autism, depression and Asperger’s syndrome as well as suicidal tendencies. Smith walked away from a medical facility and should be considered endangered.


Anyone seeing the missing person, suspect, associate, or vehicle, or anyone having any information related to the endangered missing person should immediately dial 911 to contact the nearest law enforcement agency or call the Springfield Police Department at 417-864-1810.



Death Investigation at Linn Valley Kansas

Death Investigation....

On Saturday December 15th, Officers were dispatched to an address in Linn Valley in reference to an individual on fire. Officer Stuteville arrived on scene to find a Male subject lying in the yard on fire. 

Officer Stuteville was able to quickly extinguish the flames but unfortunately the victim was already deceased.

The investigation is still ongoing and initially appears to be accidental. The victim was alone at the time. Names will not be released at this time out of respect for family.

December Spirit Assembly on Wednesday, December 19, at 9:00. 4th Grade will be performing.

Early Release at 12:15 on WEDNESDAY, December 19. NO SCHOOL December 20 - January 2. Students start back on Thursday, January 3.


Burglary in Osceola

On Dec. 13, St. Clair County deputies were dispatched to a residence on NE 351 Private Road in reference to a burglary.

Upon arrival, the deputies approached the residence, looking for any signs of movement through the windows. There was a dog in one of the windows. A deputy could see past the dog, and noticed a man lying on the floor with part of his upper body under a bed.

The man was identified as home owner, James Crowder. Crowder stated he was lying in bed when he heard the front door of his residence open. Crowder advised two male subjects in dark colored hoodies, one with an orange facemask, the other with a black facemask, both wearing gloves, came to his bedroom and pointed guns at him.

Crowder stated the two men wanted to know where his medications were. Crowder stated the medications were in his gun safe. Crowder stated one man told the other to tie Crowder up. Crowder stated the men took the medication and ran out the back door.

Crowder stated the suspect stole approximately $300 worth of medication.

St. Clair County deputies searched the house and patrolled the surrounding area looking for suspects.
