Sad news to pass along former Harrisonville Junior High Principal Bob Hodge has passed away.
Bob was the Head boys basketball coach as well as an assistant varsity football coach for the Wildcats. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family.
Search Warrant Served in Nevada
In the evening hours of Tuesday December 18, 2018 Nevada Police executed a search warrant in the 400 block of South Pine Street in response to reports of illegal drug activity at that location.
Officers had developed information regarding a known male subject at that location that had reportedly been involved in illegal drug activity. Officers also learned the known male subject had outstanding felony warrants for his arrest.
Upon arrival, officers had contact with multiple subjects on the property. During this initial contact several subjects were detained by officers including the known male subject.

During the search officers located and seized suspected methamphetamine and suspected drug paraphernalia. The evidence seized will be sent to the Missouri State Highway Patrol Crime Lab for further analysis.
Four subjects were taken into custody and transported to the Vernon County Jail for holding. The four subjects were identified as follows:
Kerry Miller, age of 44 of Nevada
Jedediah Krull, age 35 of Nevada
Rachel Long, age 42 of Nevada
Cole Winsworth, age 17 of Nevada
Charges are being sought against a fifth subject for misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

On December 19, 2018, the following charges were filed against Kerry Miller through the Vernon County Associate Court:
Possession of a Controlled Substance - Class D Felony
Miller is being held in the Vernon County Jail in lieu of a $7,500 cash only bond. Miller is also being held on multiple outstanding arrest warrants from the Vernon County Associate Court.
On December 19, 2018, the following charges were filed against Jedediah Krull through the Vernon County Associate Court:
Possession of a Controlled Substance - Class D Felony
Krull is being held in the Vernon County Jail in lieu of a $7,500 cash only bond.

Montrose man arrested in Benton County
On 12/18/17 around 10:26am the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Benton County arrested 38 year old Joseph L. Card of Montrose, Missouri.
Mr. Card was arrested for 1.) Felony Warrant -Pettis County Sheriff's Office 2.) Felony Warrant - Benton County Sheriff's Office 3.) Possession of Methamphetamine 4.) Possession of less then 10 grams of Marijuana 5.) Unlawful use of drug paraphernalia.
He was booked into the Benton County Jail and is currently being held on no bond.

4 pedestrians struck by drunk driver in Harrisonville
The Harrisonville Police say a driver was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated charges after four pedestrians were stuck on Wednesday evening around 7:30pm around the area of the 1400 block of South Oakland Drive.
One of the four people hit was a 9-year-old. The other three range in age from 42 to 63. All the victims were seriously hurt.

The accident is currently being investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol at this time.

Updated Obituary - Barney Scott
Funeral services for Barney Scott will be 11 a.m. Saturday, December 22, 2018 at Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel (660-679-6555) in Butler, Missouri. Visitation will be prior to services from 10-11 a.m. at Schowengerdt Chapel.
Burial in Crescent Hill Cemetery, Adrian, Missouri. Contributions to Drexel VFW. Online condolences, www.schowengerdtchapel.com.
Barney Ellsworth Scott, age 97 of Drexel, Missouri died Monday, December 17, 2018 at his home. He was born February 19, 1921 to Mert Lee and Minnie Tyler Scott.
Barney, one of six children, grew up in Miller County where he attended school. On August 19, 1944 he was united in marriage to Harriett “Hattie” Ingram, and this marriage lasted 74 years. To this union two sons were born. Barney served his country during World War II in the United States Army. In his early years, Barney worked as a taxi driver in the Kansas City area. He then moved to the Rich Hill area where he worked at a hatchery and farmed and raised cattle. Barney later moved to Main City where he owned and operated a dairy farm. In 1964 Barney and Hattie bought the Gambles Store in Drexel. Some of their happiest days were spent working in the store serving the community. Barney & Hattie retired from the business in 1985.
Barney was ornery, kind, and caring, and always wore his emotions on his sleeve. He enjoyed rabbit hunting, gardening, visiting with family and friends, and raising beagle dogs. He truly enjoyed the many fishing trips he took with his buddies to Colorado.
Barney is survived by his wife, Harriett Scott of Drexel, Missouri; two sons, Russell Scott and James “Jim” Scott and wife Trish; two grandchildren, Brent Scott and wife Kari, and Rebekah Scott; and one great-grandson, Drew Scott.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Meurice, Harold and Herb Scott; two sisters, Irene Morris and infant sister Mildred Pearl Scott; and a grandson, Trent Scott.
