Sheldon man on Most Wanted List taken into custody by multi-jurisdictional team

A Sheldon resident has been taken into custody by a multi-jurisdictional team after being placed on Vernon County’s Most Wanted list.

According to Vernon County Sheriff Jason Mosher, 35-year-old Carl A Bogart was taken into custody early Friday morning after a search warrant was served at a home on South 1525 Road in Vernon County.

Mosher said members of the Vernon County Special Response Team, Nevada Police Department, and the Bates County Sheriff’s Office conducted the raid just before sunrise. “Mr. Bogart was able to get underneath the trailer and hide when we called for him to come outside, but was found a short time later and taken into custody” said Mosher.

Bogart was wanted on multiple felony warrants that were issued after he failed to appear for his court hearing in December. Bogart is currently being held in the Vernon County Jail with no bond.

Update: Fatal House Fire in Clinton

At 1:14 am this morning, the Clinton Fire Department was dispatched to a reported structure fire in the 600 block of West Rogers Street. While en route, Clinton Police Department units on scene advised that there were two reported occupants still inside the home.

Prior to fire crews arriving on scene, Clinton Police Officers attempted to locate the occupants by opening the front door of the residence. They were immediately met with intense heat and flames which halted their rescue attempts.

Upon arrival to the scene, fire crews found heavy fire coming from the front of the residence, a trailer home, and heavy smoke coming from the rear of the structure. Firefighters immediately entered the home from the rear of the structure in an attempt to locate the trapped occupants.

Shortly into their search, a female victim was located in a rear bedroom and removed from the structure where EMS and Fire crew members began resuscitation efforts. Fire fighters conducted a secondary search for the second victim. Their search led to the front of the structure were they were met with intense heat and flames.

Fire fighters were forced to evacuate the structure as conditions inside the home were quickly deteriorating. After the fire was brought under control, fire fighters reentered the structure and located a male victim, deceased, in the front area of the residence.

The Missouri State Fire Marshal’s office was notified and requested to respond the scene to assist with the investigation of the incident. The female victim was transported to Golden Valley Memorial Hospital where she was life-flighted in critical condition.

An investigation into the cause is under way at this time. There were no working smoke alarms in the home.
