Abscondered Sex Offender now back behind bars

On July 10, 2018 the Sheriff's Assistant notified a Deputy that Eddie Pogue (DOB 6/8/1982) had failed to register as a sex offender. Pogue had last registered on 12/6/17 and was due to re-register on 6/6/18. Which he failed to do. A warrant was then issued for him.

On February 12, 2018 Pogue was transferred from Webster County to Bates County. He had been arrested in Webster County for outstanding warrants out of Bates and Vernon Counties.

Pogue had 2 warrants out of Bates County for
Failure to Register as a Sex Offender with a $10,000 cash or surety bond and for Domestic Assault in the 2nd Degree with a $20,000.00 cash or surety bond.

At the time the warrant was issued Pogue was a Tier 2 sex offender and was only required to register twice a year. 

Once he is convicted of Failure to Register he will be changed to a Tier 3 sex offender and will be required to register every 90 days.

Nevada man arrested in Vernon County

On 2/12/19 around 2:19pm the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Vernon County arrested 23 year old Richard D. Breiner of Nevada, Missouri.

Mr. Breiner was arrested for 1.) Failure to yield to an emergency vehicle 2.) Speeding (101/65) 3.) Operating a vehicle in a careless and imprudent manner 4.) Driving while suspended 5.) Failure to stop at a stop sign 6.) No insurance.

He was booked into the Vernon County Jail in Nevada and placed on no bond.

Butler man arrested on warrant in Webster County

On 2/12/19 around 7:05pm the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Webster County arrested 24 year old Nickolus P. Judy of Butler, Missouri.

Mr. Judy was arrested for 1.) Bates County Sheriff's Office Misdemeanor Warrant -  Non moving traffic violation.

He was booked into the Webster County Jail in Marshfield and Mr. Judy is currently listed as bondable.

Fatality Accident in Benton County

On 2/12/19 around 8:54pm the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Benton County along with Benton County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a one vehicle accident on Fordney Rd. just east of Davis Avenue in Lincoln, Missouri.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2007 Pontiac G6 driven by 21 year old Kolton D. Taylor of Lincoln, Missouri traveled off the left side of the roadway and struck a tree.

Mr. Taylor was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident and he was transported to Reser Funeral Home in Warsaw.

The vehicle was totaled and towed from the scene by Tolliver's Tow of Lincoln, Missouri.

This is Troop A of the Missouri State Highway Patrol's 12th Fatality Accident of 2019.

5th Annual Matt's Run





From the Benton County Sheriff's Office

On 02/07/19 at approximately 8:50 PM Benton County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a local motel in reference to gunfire. 

After a short investigation, it was determined that Steven L. Wampler 55 of Cole Camp, fired a .38 caliber revolver into the ceiling, while arguing with his female companion. No one was injured. 

Mr. Wampler was arrested and charged with Domestic Assault 1st, Armed Criminal Action and Unlawful Use of a Weapon. Wampler was released on a $50,000 bond.

Obituary - Joy Diane Moore

Joy Diane Moore, 62 of Nevada passed away Sunday evening February 10, 2019 at Nevada Regional Medical Center. Joy was born April 26, 1956 at Nevada City Hospital the daughter of Gerald P. Moore and Twilia (Hendrix) Moore.

Joy grew up in Nevada attending Nevada Schools. She was once married to Richard Hand and later Michael Northrup. Joy’s first employment was at Moore-Few Care Center. She later babysat in her home for nieces, nephews and the next two generation of children. Joy always loved children, she adored her grandchildren and loved spending her time with them. Joy’s door was always open to her family, her many friends and family’s friends who were looking for a kind word and some encouragement. She also liked to work word search and picture puzzles. Joy was a member of the Church of Christ.

Joy was preceded in death by her father, Gerald P. Moore; grandparents, Ed and Fern Hendrix, Harry and Letha Moore; infant grandson, Jered Edward Moore Jr.; uncles, Harold C. Moore and Edward C “Bud” Hendrix; aunt, Nadine Moore; and special sister-in-law, Lorraine (Rayna) Moore. Joy is survived by a son, Jered Edward Moore; daughter, Kizzi Celestine Pace; step-sons, Michael Northrup and Randy Northrup; seven grandchildren, Sidnee Layne Moore, Layknn Rene` Moore, Kuper Ryan Lee Moore, Blaiz Roxanne Pace, Kyrin Zayne Hostetter, Phelani Heather Hostetter, Kinzli Teresa Hostetter; numerous step-grandchildren; mother, Twilia Moore, two brothers, Jerry Moore and Carl Moore (Judy); sister, Vicki Hensley (Roger); nieces, nephews, extended family and many special friends

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada with Bro Dick Harris officiating. Interment will follow in Moore Cemetery in Nevada. Friends may call from Thursday morning and until the hour of service on Saturday.

Memorials are suggested to Fair Haven Children’s Home (in Willard, MO) in c/o Ferry Funeral Home.



Bates County Memorial Hospital Employee of the Month for February, 2019

Lisa Tenholder is recognized as the Bates County Memorial Hospital Employee of the Month for February, 2019. 

Lisa began her employment in June, 2016 as a financial counselor and then as an accounting clerk in the Finance Department. 

Lisa pushes herself for perfection every day. She continually demonstrates dedication to the organization with her work ethic and attention to detail. 

Lisa is a great role model for employees to do their best every day.
