Obituary - Leland McGinnis

Leland McGinnis, 71 of Clinton, Missouri passed away, Thursday, May 2, 2019 at his home in Clinton. Fond memories and condolences may be left online at www.vansant-millsfuneralhome.com.

Funeral service will be on Monday, May 6, 2019 at 11am with visitation one hour prior at Vansant-Mills Funeral Home, Clinton, Missouri.

Graveside service will be on Thursday, May 9, 2019 at 10am at the Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, Kansas. The family suggests memorial contributions to be made to The Wounded Warriors and may be left in care of the funeral home.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Vansant-Mills Funeral Home, Clinton, Missouri.

Update: Person of interest in Butler City Lake death now in police custody

Mid America Live News has confirmed that 33 year old Samantha L. McCoy of Pleasanton, Kansas a person of interest in the death of Cindy McCoy has been arrested around 6:00pm at Sugar Valley Lake. She has been taken into custody at this time

A male subject identified as 43-year-old Monte M. McCoy was arrested in Pleasanton, Kansas today on a warrant that states that the defendant (M. McCoy) “knowingly attempted to kill or cause serious physical injury to Cindy Lynn McCoy by striking her with a vehicle, and in the course thereof inflicted serious physical injury.”

We will continue to monitor this situation and provide any and all details when they become available to us.

Obituary - Roger Lee Hodges

Roger Lee Hodges, 73, Archie, Missouri departed this life on Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at his home.

He is survived by his wife, Charlene R. Hodges of the home; a son, Terry Lee Hodges and wife Gina of Blue Springs, Missouri; a daughter, Angie Rogers and husband Troy of Harrisonville, Missouri; 7 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ronald Hodges and Steven Hodges both of Harrisonville, Missouri; three sisters, Sylva Davis of Archie, Missouri, Lucretia Hodges of Kaufman, Texas, and Marcy Polzin of Peculiar, Missouri; other relatives and many friends.

Cremation. A Celebration of Life Service will be 1:00 p.m.,Sunday May 19, 2019 at Carter Park, Archie, Missouri.

Family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.

In regard to the deceased female that was found at Butler City Lake yesterday, May 1, an autopsy has been conducted.

The preliminary indication is that death was caused by other than natural causes. While I cannot release specifics at this time, this death is currently regarded as suspicious.

Garcia sentenced to 10 years MDOC

John P. Garcia pleaded guilty today for the July 8, 2017 stabbing attack of an Adrian, Missouri woman.

Jamie Bise was working at a produce store in Adrian when the attack occurred. Ms. Bise was taken to a Kansas City hospital for treatment of her wounds.

Mr. Garcia age 56, was apprehended a short time later and has been in the Bates County Jail awaiting trial. 


Mr. Garcia will be transported to the Missouri Department of Corrections in the next few days to begin serving his sentence of 10 years MDOC.
