Two vehicle accident in St. Clair County

On 6/18/19 around 2:30pm the Missouri State Highway Patrol in St. Clair County responded to a two vehicle accident on A Highway around 5 miles east of Appleton City.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2012 Ford F-350 driven by 58 year old Christopher R. Thompson of Appleton City, Missouri failed to yield and struck the side of the 2007 Jeep Wrangler driven by 43 year old Jason A. Dunlap of Belton, Missouri.

Mr. Dunlap sustained minor injuries in this accident and he was transported by ambulance to Ellett Memorial Hospital in Appleton City, Missouri for treatment.

The Jeep was towed from the scene of the accident by C & H Towing.


Obituary - Evelyn Stevener

Evelyn Stevener, 97 of Butler, Missouri passed away Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at her home in Butler. Funeral services will be held 5:00 pm Friday, June 21, 2019 at Mullinax Funeral Home, Butler (660-679-0009). A visitation will be held from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm, prior to services Friday, also at the funeral home. 

Cremation will follow services. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Messages of Condolence may be left for the family at www.mullinaxfuneralhome.com

Obituary - Weslie William Brummett

Weslie William Brummett, age 71 of Deerfield, Missouri formerly of Butler, Missouri passed away Sunday, June 9, 2019 at the Cox Medical Center in Springfield, Missouri. Wes was born June 16, 1947 in Butler, Missouri the son of Lawrence and Mary Brummett.  Wes graduated from Butler High School in 1965.

Wes is survived by two sons; Jeff Brummett and Justin Brummett; two daughters Gina Cain and Shannon Brummett; sister Barbara Cantrell; four grandchildren; Jessica and Kelsey Cain and Clint and Clayton Brummett; also great grandson Kal.

Obituary - Isabel Marie Read

Isabel Marie Read, age 101, Mound City, Kansas passed away on Monday, June 17, 2019 at The Residencies of Pleasanton. She was born in Linville, Kansas on October 7, 1917 the daughter of Harley Otis and Pearl May Shaffer Johnson. She graduated from Mound City High School in the Class of 1935 and attended Pittburg State Teacher''s College, where she received her Teaching Certificate. 

She taught for eleven years in Linn County Country Schools. Isabel married Martin Read on April 25, 1948 at the Pleasanton United Methodist Church. He preceded her in death on September 16, 2003. She was a member of the Mound City United Methodist Church, was a 4-H leader for ten years, and loved visiting with family and friends. 

She was also preceded in death by three brothers; Otis, John and Perry Johnson and a son in law, Terry Heiser. Isabel is survived by a son, Marty Read and wife Beverly; a daughter, Mary Jane Heiser; a sister, Viola Campbell; grandchildren, Will, Naomi, Becky and husband Brandon, Kala and husband Matthew, Meagan and husband Josh, and Rachel and husband Eddie; and great grandchildren; Dalton, Rylee, Eli, Gage, Creed, Pearl May, Silas and Roslyn.

Funeral service will be held 10 am Friday, June 21, 2019 at the Mound City United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Linville Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 pm Thursday at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Mound City Chapel. Online condolences can be left at www.schneiderfunerals.com.

Buford Cecil Orear, age 85 of Hume, Missouri died Saturday, June 15, 2019 at St. Luke’s East in Lee’s Summit, Missouri. He was born December 23, 1933 to Floyd Earl and Margaret Louise Schooley Orear in Bates County, Missouri.

Buford is survived by two sons, Shawn Orear and wife Angelena and Stacy Orear, all of Hume, Missouri; two granddaughters, Kayla Orear and Katie Pruitt and husband Eric; one great-granddaughter on the way, Lorinda Lynn Pruitt; and Gamper’s dog, Dolly. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Lorinda in January of 2016; and one sister, Nina Clark.
