Obituary - Ruth Lorraine (McCaslin) Moore

Ruth Lorraine (McCaslin) Moore passed away Saturday, June 22nd, 2019. Ruth was born March 10th, 1925, to John Sherman and Rachel Mae (Baldridge) McCaslin in Sheldon, MO. She was raised by her uncle and aunt, Marion J. and Cora Myrtle (McCaslin) Cowherd after her parents’ death in 1926. She married U.S. Navy Radio First Classman and Minister, Rex Homer Moore, on June 18th, 1941. They were married 55 years during which they had three sons and lived in Missouri, Kansas, Ohio, Illinois, Iowa, Alaska, and California where Rex was stationed. Ruth worked several jobs on base. She started as a nurse’s aide, earned her cosmetology license and later worked as a secretary for the state of Missouri. Ruth loved music and played the organ and accordion for church for years. She also enjoyed sewing, swimming, and puzzles.

Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, John & Rachel McCaslin of Sheldon, Mo.; her uncle and aunt Marion & Myrtle Cowherd of Nevada, Mo.; her husband Rex Homer Moore of Nevada, Mo.; her sister Helen Brink (James) of Gladstone, Mo.; her son Ronald Frederick Moore (Kathy) of Ramsey, Mn.; and her son Donald Wayne Moore (Judy) of Kansas City, Mo. She is survived by her son Clinton Leon Moore (Pam) of Parkville, Mo., seven grandchildren, nine great‐grandchildren, one great‐great‐grandchild and two nieces.

Services will be held at Relevant Church, 101 N. Forest Ave., Liberty, Mo. 64068 on Wed-nesday, June 26th. 10:00am visitation and 11:00am service. Burial will be held on Thursday, June 27th, at 11:00am at Fort Scott National Cemetery in Ft. Scott, Kansas.


Obituary - Brenton Thomas Handly

Brenton Thomas Handly, 29, Nevada, MO passed away June 21, 2019 as a result of an automobile accident.

Brenton was born May 30, 1990 in Nevada, MO to Max Handly and Terry (Handly) Jones. Brenton was raised in Nevada, graduating from Nevada High School in 2008. He was employed by Niece Products of Fort Scott as a painter, a job he loved. Brenton enjoyed working on cars, being outdoors and hunting mushrooms.

In addition to his parents he is survived by his wife Dennise and her children Treyton, Aiden and Ashlyn of Nevada, his daughters Nevaeh of Republic and Amelia of Nevada and Alexis Foreman, of Nevada, his girlfriend, his brother John Pippin and wife Kim of Joplin and sister Tallie Moscato of Nevada, grandmothers Peggy Jones of Stockton, Rosalie Handly of Nevada and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Brenton was preceded in death by his grandfather’s Sid Jones of Stockton and Thomas Handly of Nevada and his brother-in-law Michael Moscato of Jefferson City.

Visitation will be held from 6-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 27, 2019 at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada. Committal Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 1, 2019 at Moore Cemetery in Nevada.

Memorials are suggested to the family in c/o Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada.

Obituary - Dorothy Lee Armstrong

Dorothy Lee Armstrong, 82, Freeman, MO, died Sunday, June 23, 2019 at the Kansas City Hospice House in Kansas City, MO. 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 28, 2019 at the Faith Baptist Church in Harrisonville, MO with visitation from 10:00-11:00 at the church. 

Burial will follow in Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville. Memorial contributions may be made to the Faith Baptist Church.
