Clinton School District is requesting proposals

The Clinton School District is requesting proposals for the management of the repair and replacement of roofs at eight facilities located within the district due to the damage from a hail storm last winter.

The estimated cost for the project is approximately $2,000,000.

Wisconsin truck driver escapes injury in Vernon County rollover

On 7/8/19 around 7:00am the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Vernon County along with Vernon County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a one vehicle rollover accident in the northbound lanes of I-49 near TT Highway around 4 miles south of Rich Hill, Missouri.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 24 ft. Enterprise box truck driven by 34 year old Khalil Douglas of Wisconsin traveled off the roadway and overturned.

Mr. Douglas sustained minor injuries in this accident and he was trapped in the vehicle for a short period of time. Douglas refused medical treatment at the scene of the crash.

The vehicle was totaled and took some time to tow from the scene.








Obituary - Debra Lee Cecil

Debra Lee Cecil, 60, Nevada, MO passed away on Saturday, July 6, 2019 at her home in Nevada. Debra was born November 19, 1958.

In 2010, Debra moved to Nevada to be with her family. She was a very caring and friendly individual who especially loved spending time with her sister, Sharon. 

Debra enjoyed going to garage sales, collecting dolphins, horses and animal miniatures. She also enjoyed listening to country music, and doing paint by numbers on her phone. One of the greatest loves in her life was her dog “Speedy” who died several months ago.

Debra was preceded in death by her father, Lloyd Cecil; and her step-father (who raised her), James Glenn Bedore; and one brother, Jesse Cecil. She is survived by two children, Christopher Snyder, and Jason Snyder; her mother, Virginia Bedore, Nevada; one sister, Sharon Denman, Nevada; and one brother, Kim Wright.

Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 11, 2019 at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada. Committal will follow in Newton Burial Park in Nevada. The family will receive friends from 9-10:00 a.m. prior to the service.


Obituary - Sandra Sue Lawrence

Sandra's wishes were to be cremated. Visitation will be held from 4-5 p.m. Thursday, July 11, 2019 at Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel (660-679-6555) in Butler, Missouri.

Sandra Sue Lawrence, age 64 of Butler, Missouri died Saturday, July 6, 2019 at Bates County Memorial Hospital in Butler. She was born December 27, 1954 to Leonard Leon and Gladys Evelyn McCray Lawrence in Liberal, Kansas.

Sandra is survived by her brother, Kenny Lawrence of Butler, Missouri; and several nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents; and three brothers, Richard, Leland and Doug.


One killed in Cass County Crash

On 7/5/19 around 4:15pm the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Cass County along with Cass County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a one vehicle fatality accident north of Cleveland, Missouri on Route D (Holmes Road) around 500 feet north of 223rd Street in rural Cass County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 1992 Chevrolet driven by 47 year old Kristen M. Yeager of Independence, Missouri crossed the centerline of traffic, driver overcorrected and lost control of the vehicle causing it to go off the roadway and overturn.

Kristen M. Yeager was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident and was transported to Frontier Forensics in Kansas City, Kansas.

The vehicle was totaled and towed from the scene of the accident by J's Southland Tow.

This is Troop A of the Missouri State Highway Patrol's 41st Fatality accident of 2019.
