Obituary - Christopher W. Otto

Christopher W. Otto, age 38, Mound City, Kansas passed as a result of an automobile accident in Rawlins, Wyoming. 

Funeral services are pending at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Mound City Chapel.

Missouri Governor Blocks Repeal of Motorcycle Helmet Law

Missouri Governor Mike Parson has vetoed a bill that would have allowed some motorcycle riders to drive without helmets.

Parson vetoed the measure Friday. It would have repealed Missouri's helmet requirement for motorcycle riders who are at least 18 years old and have health insurance.

Parson didn't express opposition to relaxing helmet requirements for motorcyclists. In a letter to lawmakers , Parson wrote that he vetoed the bill because of a section that dealt with suspending driver's licenses over unpaid fines related to traffic violations.

Some lawmakers have been trying for a long time to repeal the helmet requirement. They passed a bill to do so in 2009 but it was vetoed by then-Gov. Jay Nixon.

Mound City Kansas man killed in Wyoming Crash

On 7/11/19 around 10:30pm the Wyoming State Highway Patrol was dispatched to a one vehicle rollover accident on Interstate 80 just east of Rawlins, Wyoming.

The Wyoming State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the westbound 2008 Ford F-150 driven by 38 year old Christopher W. Otto of Mound City, Kansas entered a construction zone crossover and traveled off the right side of the roadway and overturned.

Mr. Otto was pronounced dead due to injuries sustained in this accident. Funeral services are pending at this time through the Schneider Funeral Home.

This is the 85th fatality on Wyoming’s roadways in 2019 compared to 53 in 2018, 73 in 2017, and 47 in 2016 to date.

We had several people witness a vehicle run from officers around the Smelter Hill area earlier this afternoon. The vehicle and driver were located by Vernon County deputies a short time ago. 

There is no threat to the area. Thank you to the citizens that relayed information to law enforcement in the area.

The Archie Water Department wants to thank everyone for their patience and cooperation with the repairs and water outages we have had recently. 

The work on Saturday is scheduled to begin at 9:00 AM and will take up to four hours to complete. We believe a minimum number of customers in the South Main Street and South Missouri Street area will experience a loss of water service during this work. 

Depending on circumstances, the affected area COULD expand to include all areas of Archie. Customers should be prepared for a potential interruption if this is the case.

We're going to see a warming trend through the middle of next week. Humidity will also start to increase, and by the middle of next week we'll see heat index values climbing back to between 100 and 105.
