Obituary - Suzie Ellen House

Suzie Ellen House, 52, Greenwood, MO, formerly of Harrisonville, MO, passed away Wednesday, July 10, 2019 at the Kansas City Hospice House in Kansas City, MO. A memorial visitation will be held from 5:00-6:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 16, at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, MO.

Suzie was born November 18, 1966 in Marion, IN, a daughter of Raymond and Herbetta (Bowman) Marley. She married Shawn House on November 19, 1997 in Wabash, IN. Suzie attended MedTech College in Ft. Wayne, IN, and was certified as a medical assistant. She also received an associate’s degree in accounting. Suzie worked as a medical assistant in Wabash before moving to Harrisonville three years ago.

Suzie was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, LeAnn Marley, and one nephew, Joel Marley. She is survived by her husband, Shawn, of the home; one son, John Wilcox, Warsaw, IN; one daughter, Deidre Ivy, Greenwood, MO; one brother, Charles Marley, St. Joseph, MO; two grandchildren, Masen Ivy and Dylan Ivy; step-mother, Paulette Marley, Pleasant Hill, MO; siblings, Carmen (Clint) Carver, Harrisonville, Stacy (Dennis) Beasley, Garden City, MO, Carrie Collins, Garden City, and Teddy (Danielle) Marley, Pleasant Hill, MO.


Obituary - David Wayne Hamilton

David Wayne Hamilton, 34, of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, was born, August 13, 1984, in Kansas City, Kansas, the son of Marvin and Kathleen (Parrish) Hamilton. He departed this life, Thursday, July 11, 2019, at the Kansas City Center for Rehabilitation& Nursing, Kansas City, Missouri.

Dave was a 2002 Washington High School, Kansas City, Kansas, graduate. On August 15, 2009, he was united in marriage to Samantha G. Umstead in Kansas City, Kansas.

Dave had been employed as a Chef for several Kansas City area restaurants. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing video games. He loved playing cards especially a good game of Texas Hold ‘em.

Dave’s all-time favorite comic book hero was Superman. Dave himself was bigger than life and lived his life to help make other people’s lives happier and better. In turn Dave was their Superman. He will be missed greatly by all who knew him.

Dave is survived by his wife Samantha of Pleasant Hill; his father and stepmother, Marvin and Ferna Hamilton of Kansas City, Kansas; his in-law’s, Bob and Candy Umstead of Pleasant Hill; his mother, Kathleen Parrish of Kansas City, Missouri; his adopted daughter, Miranda Celestine of Kansas City, Missouri; one brother Richard Hamilton of Kansas City, Kansas; two sisters, Laurie Posten of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, and Cheryl Brinker of Raytown, Missouri; one niece, Persephone Posten of Lee’s Summit; other relatives and friends.

Cremation has been accorded.

A Celebration of David’s life will be held at a later date.

Obituary - Jim Brown

Jim Brown age 72 of Harrisonville, Missouri departed this life Friday, July 12, 2019 at his home surrounded with family and love.

Jim is survived by his son, Timothy W. Brown and his wife Lindsey of Harisonville, Missouri; two daughters, Elizabeth Ann Bedsaul and her husband Bill of Harrisonville, Missouri and Susan Marie Bedsaul and her husband Ken of Grandview, Missouri; a brother, Mike Brown of Smithville, Missouri, a sister, Pat Ysassi of Harrisonville, Missouri; 9 grandchidren, 5 great grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.

Inurnment will be in the Missouri Veteran's Cemetery, Higgensville, Missouri with military honors and will be held at a later date.

Obituary - Robert (Bob) Tunnell

Robert (Bob) Tunnell of Tightwad, Mo., formerly of Odessa, Mo., died on May 25, 2019.

A Memorial Service is being held on July 21, 2019 from 2-6 PM at the American Legion Hall located at 733 E Young Ave. Warrensburg, Mo.

Born June 10, 1940, Bob was the youngest son of Cort and Una Irene Tunnell.

Bob graduated from Odessa high school and began working with pipefitters unions. He was a member of Local 798 Pipefitters out of Tulsa Oklahoma since 1962.

Bob was also a horseman. He began riding at the age of 4 and spent 75 years of his life sharing his passion for horses with others. Bob Tunnell Quarter Horses will continue operating under his granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by both parents, two sisters Betty and Ann, and one granddaughter Jenna.

Those left to cherish his memories are his brother Jack Tunnell, his sister Mary Weatherman, son Patrick Tunnell, his granddaughter Tamar Tunnell, his grandsons Justin Tunnell and Halston Hevalow, and his three great grandsons.

Update Obituary - Christopher W. Otto

Christopher W. Otto, age 38, Mound City, Kansas passed away on Thursday July 11, 2019 as a result of an automobile accident near Rawlins, Wyoming. 

Funeral service will be 11 am Tuesday, July 16, 2019 at the Mound City First Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Curry Cemetery. Visitation will be held form 5 to 7 pm Monday, July 15, 2019 at the Church.

Turning Hot and Humid this week

We're going to start the week out with fairly typical summer weather with highs in the upper 80s and lower 90s and heat index values in the lower 90s. 

It's going to get hotter by the middle to later part of the week though. Temperatures are expected to climb into the upper 90s with heat index values between 100 and 105 heading into next weekend.
