Use caution when driving in the heat

Man, it's a hot one... ☀️🌡️🔥
A dangerous heat wave is upon us. If you're traveling in temps this high, use extra caution:
▪️Check your battery and tire pressure before heading out to avoid getting stranded. And pack water just in case!
▪️This heat can cause weakened pavement to buckle, so take it slow and beware of "blow-ups."
▪️ALWAYS look before you lock. Don't leave children or pets in your car.

Five streets in Harrisonville to receive cape seal in preparation for Asphalt, Slurry Seal program

The Harrisonville Streets Department is preparing to cape seal five streets as part of the 2019 Asphalt Program.
The cape seal will begin on Monday July 22, and starts by City crews chip sealing the roadway with a layer of emulsified road oil covered with a small granite aggregate that fills any minor cracks and waterproofs the roadway. Any larger cracks will have already been filled with a rubber based sealer. Crews will then sweep the granite surface the following day to remove any lose aggregate.
The second part of the cape seal consists of an aggregate/emulsified oil slurry being applied by a private contractor about a week following the chip seal. The slurry will cover the gravel and provide a black asphalt wear surface. The combined seals will create a finished surface that is about a half inch thick.
The streets to be chip sealed in preparation for a cape seal are:
Monday and Tuesday - Ash Street from Bradley Street to Patton Street.
Tuesday and Wednesday - Younger Drive from Elm Street to Amy Drive.
Wednesday and Thursday - Meadowlark Drive from Osage Street to Bird Avenue.
Wednesday and Thursday - Quail Street areas from Pheasant to Meadowlark Drive.
Thursday and Friday - Jill Street from Kay Street to Walker Drive.
Other selected streets, with less surface distresses, will receive a typical slurry seal after crack sealing
