Obituary - Geraldine Louise “Jerry” Taylor

Geraldine Louise “Jerry” Taylor, 83, of Belton, Missouri, was born, June 25, 1936, in Coffeyville, Kansas, the daughter of Roy and Edith (Ramsey) Noel. She departed this life, Thursday, July 18, 2019, at the Beautiful Savior Nursing Home in Belton.

On April 25, 1966, Jerry was united in marriage to Hubert E. Taylor in Miami, Oklahoma.

Jerry had assembled electrical components for Torotel in Grandview and Certex in Olathe, Kansas. She enjoyed gardening and canning, crocheting, and was an avid reader. She was a member of the South Haven Baptist Church in Belton.

Jerry was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert on January 28, 1974, and one step-daughter, Carmen Fletcher.

She is survived by her daughter, Michelle (and Dennis) Hudson, of Belton; one step-son Barry (and Linda) Taylor of Belton; one step-daughter, Juanita “Nita” (and Cliff) Long, of Sedalia, Missouri; one brother, Wallace Noel; 8 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Cremation has been accorded. Private family services will be held at a later date.

Obituary - Pauline Fern Moran

Pauline Fern Moran, 98, passed away on Wednesday, July 17, 2019, at Nevada Nursing and Rehab in Nevada, MO. 

She was born on December 27, 1920 in Stafford, KS to Harry Simmons Hazel and Mary Levina (Palmer) Simmons.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 24, 2019 at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, MO. Interment will follow in Newton Burial Park, Nevada.


Miami project rolling along

Obituary - John E. Norval, III

John E. Norval, III 60, of Butler, Missouri passed away Friday, July 19, 2019 at Medicalodge of Butler. 

Funeral services will be held 10:00 am Tuesday, July 23, 2019 at Mullinax Funeral Home, Butler (660-679-0009). 

A visitation will be held prior to the service from 9:00 am to 10:00am, as at the funeral home Tuesday.

John Edward Norval, III was born September 24, 1958 to John E. and Mary Elliott Norval.

John worked most of his life as a mechanic and was united in marriage to his loving wife Norma. To this union three boys were born.



John was preceded in death by his parents, brother John Dean Norval, grandson Justis Exavier Eric Norval. He is survived by his sons, Gary Ray Norval and wife Jessica, Julian Edward Norval and wife Florence, Shaun Eric Norval and wife Tabitha, and their families. He is also survived by his ex-wife Norma Shiffiett and husband Lester, sisters, Leta Collins and Heather O’Neal, along with numerous grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.


Obituary - James W. Mayhugh

James W. Mayhugh 
James William Mayhugh, 90, of Prescott, Kansas died early Friday, July 19, 2019 at Medicalodge in Fort Scott, Kansas. J.W. was born May 5, 1929 in rural Prescott to Artie Roy and Ella Josephine (Walrod) Mayhugh. 

He graduated from Mound City High School in 1946. On March 2, 1951 he enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served his country with the occupational forces in Germany until his honorable discharge on February 20, 1953. 

On November 3, 1953, he married the love of his life, Jean Rae Long at the Methodist Parsonage in Prescott. She preceded him in death on October 22, 2018. J.W. was a farmer who greatly enjoyed the outdoors whether he was caring for his cattle, fishing, or hunting for coon or squirrel. J.W. was a people person who loved spending his days drinking coffee with his various coffee groups. 

He was competitive and enjoyed a good game of pool or Snooker and he was an avid card player who excelled in Pitch. J.W. was a member of the American Legion Hewitt-New Post No. 248 in Mound City.

J.W. was preceded in death by his parents, Artie and Jo Mayhugh; his wife, Jean Rae Mayhugh; and one son, Ronald Morton Mayhugh. Survivors include one son, Andy and Karla Mayhugh; two daughters, Cindy Staton, and Sheila and Jess Jackson; one sister, Neldeen Barnett; five grandchildren, Jay Orr, Adam Mayhugh, Levi Jackson, Jacob Jackson, and Stephanie Simons; 10 great-grandchildren; and a multitude of relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, July 22, 2019 at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Mound City Chapel. Burial will follow in Battlefield Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 pm Sunday, July 21, 2019 at the chapel. The family suggests contributions to American Legion Hewitt-New Post No. 248 in care of the funeral home, PO Box J, Mound City, Kansas 66056.
