Lees Summit woman injured in accident near Rich Hill

On 7/23/19 around 2:24pm the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Bates County along with the Butler Fire Department and Bates County EMS and Bates County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a one vehicle accident on I-49 near mile marker 123.8 north of Rich Hill.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2012 Toyota Highlander driven by 29 year old Caitlin J. Miller of Lees Summit, Missouri was northbound on I-49 when she ran off the roadway into the median striking the ground, The vehicle went airborne and struck the roadway before coming to rest in the Marais Des Cygnes River.

Caitlin J. Miller sustained moderate injuries in this accident and she was transported by ambulance to Bates County Memorial Hospital for treatment.

The vehicle was totaled and towed from the scene of the crash by Douty's Tow of Butler, Missouri.

Keep knocking them down

Housing Demolition Partnership has continued in the City of Butler with the second house on Havannah Street behind Casey's. 

This partnership is between the city and the property owner to get these abandoned houses tore down.

You will see more tore down in the near future.

Obituary - Terah L (McKnight) Hallam

Terah Lynn Hallam, 30, Sarcoxie, MO passed away on Sunday, July 21, 2019 in Nevada, MO. Terah was born October 17, 1988 in Nevada, MO to Shawnessey P. McKnight and Karen K. Claspill. She married Matthew Leer on May 7, 2007 in Miami, OK and he preceded her in death on July 6, 2008. In 2013 she married Jason Hallam in Sarcoxie, MO and he survives of the home.

Terah grew up in Nevada and attended Nevada Schools where she was active in cheerleading, volleyball, softball, and horseback riding. She received numerous awards in barrel racing. For the past 10 years she has resided in Sarcoxie where she attended the 1st Baptist Church. She was actively involved in many school programs including assistant cheerleading coach at Sarcoxie R-2 Elementary School, volunteered her time with the softball team, and was a room mother.

In addition to her husband Jason she is survived by three children, Addison Starbuck, Nevada, Kaylee Hallam, Sarcoxie, Lincoln Hallam, Sarcoxie; mother, Karen (Claspill) Oberly, Nevada; two brothers, Darrel Claspill, Branson, MO, Kyle McKnight, Council Bluffs, IA; maternal grandparents, Darrell and Doris Claspill, Clinton, MO, Judy and Steve Oberly, Stockton, MO; paternal grandfathers, Pat McKnight, Council Bluffs, IA, and Gary Nelson, Nevada, MO; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Matthew Leer; father Shawn McKnight; and grandmother, Kitty Nelson.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 2, 2019 at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada. Interment will follow in Newton Burial Park in Nevada. The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 1, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to a trust fund for her children in c/o Ferry Funeral Home.


Obituary - Dr. John L. Noe

We are saddened to announce that Dr. John L. Noe, 79 of Butler, Missouri passed away Monday evening, July 22, 2019 at his home just outside Butler. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, July 27, 2019 at the Double Branch Christian Church with Pastor Cody Morris officiating. 

Visitation will be Friday evening from 5-7 PM, beginning with Masonic Services from 5-5:15 at Mullinax Funeral Home (660-679-0009) in Butler. 

Following services, the funeral procession will travel past the offices of Drs. Noe, Miller & Miller in Butler before burial in the Oak Hill Cemetery. Messages and memories may be left for the family at www.mullinaxfuneralhome.com

Semi truck rollover accident in rural Vernon County

The Missouri State Highway Patrol along with the Walker Rural Fire District responded to a one vehicle semi truck rollover accident on Route AA at Route Y in rural Vernon County.

No one is injured in this accident and it has been cleared and cleaned up at this time.


Obituary - Arthur L. Williams, Jr.

Arthur L. Williams, Jr. age 88 of Rich Hill, Missouri passed away Sunday, July 21, at the Medicalodge of Butler. 

Funeral Services are scheduled at 1:00 p.m. Friday, July 26th at the Heuser Funeral Home, Rich Hill, with burial to follow in the Green Lawn Cemetery at Rich Hill. 

The family receives friends between 5pm-7pm Thursday evening, July 25th at the Heuser Funeral Home. 

Memorials either to the Good Shepherd Hospice or the Butler Church of God are suggested and can be made in care of Heuser Funeral Home.

Kids Bicycle Races At Nevada Speedway




Kiddos, get those bicycles ready to hit the track this Saturday during intermission!!!

Kids will be split up into three different age groups (3-5) (6-8) and (9-12) to compete!! All kids must have a helmet to participate.

Weekly racing for Mini Stocks, Pure Stocks, Street Stocks, Midwest Mods, B-Mods, and Late Models for weekly point racing.

Gates open at 4:30pm, Driver Cutoff will be at 6:30pm, Hot Laps at 7:00pm, with Racing to be scheduled at 7:30pm.

Grandstand Admission will be just $10 for Adults, $12 for Reserved Seating, $5 for Kids ages 6-12, and Kids under 6 are always FREE!

Pit Passes will be $25 for Adults, $35 for Drivers, $15 for Kids ages 6-12, and Kids under 6 are always FREE!
