From the City of Harrisonville

ATTENTION: The City of Harrisonville phone & online utility billing portals are currently experiencing technical issues, after severe storms in the Boston, MA, area damaged a data center that maintains these portals.

Users may still be able to use the online bill pay portal but should verify that payments went through by calling the Utility Office at (816) 380-8900.

While these options are currently experiencing issues, there are still multiple ways that residents can pay their bills. Checks or money orders can be left in the 24-hour drop box, located on the front of City Hall (300 E Pearl Street), or brought into the lobby basket or front desk. Cash can be brought in to the front desk during regular business hours. Credit or debit cards can also be used to make a payment at the front desk.
As a reminder, utility bills for the month of July are due before 5 p.m. on July 25.

After the deadline, any past due account will be charged a $50 administrative fee, additional deposit fees as applicable, and scheduled for disconnection.

If you have questions about the City’s utility-payment policy, please call City Hall, 816-380-8900.
An update will be posted when the issue has been resolved.

From Bates County Coroner Greg Mullinax

Wednesday, July 24, 2019 13:26hrs For Immediate Release

I have today certified the Cause and Manner of Death for Mr. John N. McConnell, Jr. Mr. McConnell was the pilot of the aircraft that crashed in Bates County the morning of June 10, 2019.

I have received and reviewed the NTSB’s Accident Preliminary Report, which describes engine problems with Mr. McConnell’s airplane beginning with his descent to his planned destination, New Century Airport in Olathe, Kansas. As he neared Bates County, he requested to change his destination to the nearest airport, which was Butler Memorial Airport. In this approach he encountered continued difficulty with the aircraft and ultimately struck a grain bin in a field north of Butler. The aircraft overturned and fell to the ground.

An autopsy conducted the following day confirmed that Mr. McConnell died as a result of the injuries he sustained in this accident. The manner of death is Accident.

Respectfully,

Greg D. Mullinax
Coroner of Bates County
