Don't dump your aquarium...

The Missouri Department of Conservation recently learned an African cichlid was caught from a lake near Moberly. This fish was most likely dumped into the water from an aquarium. Did you know Petco will take your unwanted fish and try to re-home them?

We recommend taking advantage of this service, as dumping an aquarium can introduce parasites and disease to native fish. For more information, check out https://mdc.mo.gov/conmag/2015/05/no-dumping

Bates County Memorial Hospital Medical Marijuana Policy

Bates County Memorial Hospital Medical Marijuana Policy

Bates County Memorial Hospital has approved a medical marijuana policy effective immediately: medical marijuana use will not be allowed in any area covered under the hospital license including inpatient, clinics, infusion settings, or other outpatient settings. The policy is applicable to all patients and visitors of Bates County Memorial Hospital and Family Care Clinics.

Bates County Memorial Hospital (BCMH) and Family Care Clinics (FCCs) recognize that Missouri law authorizes marijuana use by qualifying patients for certain medical conditions. However, use and possession of marijuana is prohibited by federal law.

Due to federal requirements that health care providers maintain compliance with federal laws and regulations regarding the provision of health care services, physician or mid-level providers employed by BCMH and FCCs may not certify patients with qualifying medical conditions for the purpose of authorizing the use of medical marijuana.

Physicians with privileges to see patients at the hospital or Family Care Clinics may not certify patients while such patients are under their care at BCMH or FCCs.

Medical marijuana may not be used or possessed in any form by any one on the premises of the hospital or the Family Care Clinics.

The hospital is currently training staff on appropriate procedures for patients who present with marijuana in their possession. BCMH is also developing educational materials for patients and visitors to clarify its position on medical marijuana, and procedures for patients who present in possession of marijuana.  - Courtesy of the BCMH
