Charges filed in crash that severly injured Belton child

In reference to the crash that severely injured a child on 11-14-19 in Belton, Missouri. Yesterday the Cass County Prosecutor's Office filed a felony charge of leaving the scene and a misdemeanor charge of driving while suspended against Cory Lionel Palmer Hansen of Belton. 

A bond of $25,000 cash only has been assigned by the court. The Prosecutor's Office will review the possibility of additional charges as more evidence is processed.

Clinton man seriously injured in Pettis County Crash

On 11/16/19 around 1:40am the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Pettis County along with Pettis County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a one vehicle accident on AA Highway at Binder Road in rural Pettis County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 1999 Pontiac driven by 34 year old David A. Singleton of Clinton, Missouri traveled off the left side of the roadway, overturned and struck a tree.

Mr. Singleton sustained serious injuries in this accident and he was transported by Life Flight Eagle to Centerpoint Hospital for treatment.

The vehicle was totaled and towed from the scene of the accident by Don's Towing.  




Vehicle Incident Damages Liberty Utilities’ Gas Line Serving Rich Hill, Missouri

At approximately 12:45 p.m. yesterday a gas line serving Rich Hill, Missouri, was cut by a vehicle that was brush hogging along Highway A. 

The damage affected the gas service to Rich Hill, Missouri. Safety is our number one priority at Liberty Utilities; we immediately sent crews to the location to assess the damage and shut off the affected line. This affects gas service for approximately 380 customers in Rich Hill.

Additional Liberty crews from surrounding service areas are en route to Rich Hill to assist our Rich Hill team. Crews will work until midnight tonight, visiting affected homes to shut off gas meters. Customers do not need to be present for the shut off. 

Once the meters for all affected customers are turned off and the damage to the damaged line has been repaired, crews will return to homes to safely restore gas service. Service restoration is tentatively expected by Saturday, November 16th.

For the safety of our customers, only qualified Liberty Utilities personnel should shut off the gas meter. Customers should never attempt to shut of their own meter. Please remember: if you smell gas, immediately leave the area and call our GAS EMERGENCY LINE at 1-855-644-8134. We can be reached 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Liberty Utilities Crews are heading out now to start restoring service to customers in Rich Hill. 

If you are not home when their crews come by, they will leave a door tag with a phone number for you to call to schedule your meter turn on.

Obituary - Jean Moore

Jean L. Moore, age 64, of Warsaw, passed away Thursday, November 14, 2019 at home.

She was born on October 3rd, 1955 in Wichita, Ks to Martin L. Hephner and Mary P. Hephner.

Jean is survived by Nancy Helms of the home, four sons Kevin (Leigh), Eddie, Danny (Courtney) and Steven (Angie) Moore, two granddaughters, two grandsons, mother, four sisters, two brothers and many nieces and nephews.

Jean was a Family Nurse Practioner for Katy Trail Community Health of Warsaw beginning in 2007. She loved her work and patients. In her spare time, Jean loved to, as she would say “dirt work” in her flower beds.

There will be a celebration of life at a later date.

Memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society or Hospice of Benton County.

Arrangements for her cremation were entrusted to Reser Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Warsaw.
