Obituary - Oaklyn Gray Goff

Oaklyn Gray Goff infant daughter of Kevin and Rhyan Masoner Goff was born and passed on Tuesday, December 3, 2019. 

She is survived by her parents, maternal grandparents, Dallas and Mindi Masoner and paternal grandparents, David and Paula Goff.

Obituary - Lyndon Gregg Rice

Lyndon Gregg Rice, 58, formerly of Nevada, MO, passed away at his home in McQueeney, TX on December 6, 2019 following a short fight with cancer. Gregg was born January 17, 1961 to Lonnie Rice and Jimmie Doris (Hunter) Rice in Canyon, Texas.

Gregg and his family moved from the panhandle of Texas in March of 1963 to help on his grandfather Hunter’s ranch in Vernon County. One of Gregg’s fondest memories was his dad waking him up early in the morning to go with him to take care of the cattle.

Gregg attended Nevada High School where he graduated with the Class of 1979. Following graduation, he did custom hay baling with his best friend Dwayne Smith. In 1983 he went to work for 3M Nevada. While at 3M he earned his Business Management Degree from Missouri Southern State College. Gregg then entered Human Resources. While in Human Resources he was a Human Resources Manager at 3M Little Rock, AR, 3M Brownwood TX, and 3M DeKalb, IL before retiring June 1, 2017. Since then he partnered with his wife and son William in their Quilt Shop business in McQueeney, TX.

At his 15th class reunion he met the love of his life, Doris Jean Cotten. In January 1995 they were united in marriage which brought Gregg two wonderful children, Drew Cotten Liles and Hollie Anita Liles. In February of 1996 Gregg and Doris were blessed with a son, William Hunter Rice.

Gregg is survived by his wife Doris of the home; his children, Drew Liles (Bethany) of Nevada, MO, Hollie Liles Kelly (Kyle) of Sigonella, Sicily and William Rice of the home. He is also survived by his mother, Jimmie D. Rice of Nevada; brothers, Bruce Rice (Debbie) of Nevada, Steve Rice of Bella Vista, AR, Jim Rice (Kelly) of North Richland Hills, TX, and Michael Rice, Chicago, IL. Gregg was preceded in death by his father, Lonnie Rice.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 19, 2019 at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada. The family will receive friends from 10-11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Committal will follow in Newton Burial Park.

The Bates County Sheriff's Office has issued an Endangered Person Advisory for a missing person incident that occurred at 4962 Southwest County Road 3508, Rich Hill, MO at 8:30pm on 11-26-2019.

Missing Is:
Nicole Shalee Mallatt, a white female, age 36.

The endangered missing person:
Nicole is a white female, age 36, hgt 5'4", 120 lbs, blonde hair, blue eyes, wearing a black shirt, jeans and carrying a black backpack

Brief circumstances regarding the Endangered Missing Person incident:

Nicole Mallatt has suicidal ideations.

Anyone seeing the missing person, or anyone having any information related to the endangered missing person should immediately dial 911 to contact the nearest law enforcement agency or call the Bates County Sheriff's Office at 660-679-3232.

Lions make donation

Local coaches to be honored tomorrow

The Archie R-V School District is proud to extend this invitation to our students, staff and community members to attend a special recognition of our own Coach Brian Thomas this Saturday December 7, 2019 at 2:30 pm at Faurot Field in Columbia, Missouri.

Former Rich Hill and now Archie coach, Brian Thomas, along with the 1999 Rich Hill Head Coach Jerry Cornelius, as well as other coaches, and members of the 1999 Rich Hill Tigers State Champion football team, will be honored before the Class 1A State Football Championship game.

Please join us in celebrating Coach Thomas as we recognize his success as a long standing Missouri High School coach.

Doody receives outstanding performance award

Brenda Doody at the Bates County MU Extension Center, has been awarded 2nd place in the Senior Awards division this year for University of Missouri Extension

The MU Extension County Clerical Staff Recognition Awards honor MU Extension support staff members who exhibit outstanding performance with the University of Missouri, MU Extension and County Extension Councils.

Brenda, a resident of Adrian, started work at the Bates County Extension office in 2000 and is Office Manager.
 
MU Extension Senior County Clerical Award honors support staff with MU Extension who exhibit outstanding performance within the organization, take pride in their work, show outstanding performance in one or more job related areas, are dependable and reliable, and have eight or more years of service within the organization.

BCMH Employee of the Month

Sandra McCarthy is recognized as the Bates County Memorial Hospital Employee of the Month for December, 2019.

Sandra began her employment in September, 2015 as a housekeeper in the Housekeeping Department. Sandra works during the day shift and does an excellent job cleaning some of our most difficult areas. Other staff members regularly express compliments regarding Sandra’s outstanding work. She is well liked by others and treats everyone she comes in contact with respect. Sandra truly cares about doing a quality job. You never have to worry about the quality of work you get from Sandra. Sandra is an asset to the hospital’s healthcare team.

Candidate filing notice

The City of Rich Hill wishes to announce that they will receive candidate filings for the following offices for the April 7, 2020 municipal election:

Alderman North Ward-2 year term
Alderman South Ward-2 year term

Candidates may file at City Hall beginning December 17, 2019 at 8:00 a.m. and closing date for filing will be January 21, 2020 at 5:00 p.m.

Qualifications for Alderman are in State Statute #79.070 as follows: No person shall be an alderman unless he be at least twenty-one years of age, a citizen of the United States, and an inhabitant and resident of the city for one year next preceding his election, and a resident of the ward from which he is elected.

No person shall be elected to any office who shall at the time be in arrears for any unpaid city taxes, or forfeiture or defalcation in office. All officers shall be residents of the city.
