From the Drexel Fire Department

Members of Drexel Fire, representing the City of Drexel, attended Peculiar Lions Club's Fundraiser tonight supporting Fallen Firefighter Chuck McCormick's family.

A loving donation made to BCMH...

Another loving donation for BCMH CARES was delivered to the hospital today by Lillian Colburn, a senior at Butler High School and president of the school's Future Career & Community Leaders of America (FCCLA). The FCCLA club organized fundraising for their 2019 Go Pink event and selected BCMH Cares as one of the recipients - and we're so grateful they did!

Receiving the check for $500 was Christi Pope, RT, R, M, Director if Imaging Services. A very special thanks to the donors, students, teachers and parents who contributed to the fight against breast cancer by helping women in their own community.

BCMH Cares is a fund that provides free screening mammograms for uninsured and under-insured women. Over the past few years, this fund has helped many women in our community receive screening as well as follow up imaging services when indicated. For more information about BCMH Cares, call Chris at 660-200-7110.

Butler Police warn of possible scam

Just a quick reminder with tax season upon us.. Scam calls are also going to be coming in more frequently.

The IRS will NOT contact you via phone if you have defaulted on taxes, the Police Department will NOT call you to let you know you have a warrant, and no legitimate business or government entity will ask for payment via gift card.

Also you will not be asked to pay taxes prior to receiving money left behind in a will of a long lost relative, publishing clearing house, or any sort of prize money. These calls happen all year around, but they pick up this time of year.

We are unable to stop them, trace them, or prevent them from happening. Please do not give out personal information, and also check on your elderly family, friends, and neighbors and remind them as well. There is only so much warning we can provide at the Police Department, and unfortunately it is never enough as we do still get many calls and reports of scams.

Believe it or not we get scam calls at the Police Department as well, while typing this warning in fact Dispatch received one in regards to "our excellent payment history and changes being made to our credit card." Do not fall victim to these scams! - From the Butler Police Department
