Obituary - Judith L. Revell

Judith L. Revell, age 74, died at Research Hospital, Kansas City, MO, on January 25, 2020.

Judith was born on September 17, 1945, to Wayne D. and Esther E. ‘Purvines’ Murray in Raton, New Mexico.

Judith attended the University of New Mexico and earned her Bachelor’s Degree.

She married Lee Revell on June 12, 1966, in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Most recently Judith was a bookkeeper for the Samaritan Center in Clinton, MO.

Judith is survived by her husband, Lee; sons, Richard Revell and Ronald Revell; daughter, Elizabeth (Gary) Sien; grandchildren, Rebecca, Rachael, Connor, Hannah, Eric, Lance, Kaitlyn, and Kristin; great-grandchildren, Matthew, Hunter, and Charlie; her brothers, David Murray and Donald Murray; nieces, nephews; honorary grandchildren and many dear friends.

Judith was preceded in death by her parents, Wayne & Esther Murray; her brother, Richard Murray; and her grandson, Robert Revell.

Memorial contributions in memory of Judi may be made to the Samaritan Center and left in care of Consalus.

Memorial services for Judith will be Saturday, February 1, 2020, at 2:00 PM at Consalus Funeral Home. Inurnment will be held at a later date.


Obituary - Elizabeth LaVinia (Richardson) Bradley McMannama

Elizabeth LaVinia (Richardson) Bradley McMannama, 96, Kansas City, KS, passed away Thursday, January 30, 2020 at Providence Place in Kansas City, KS. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 3, 2020 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, MO with visitation from 10:00-11:00. Burial will be in Bonner Springs Cemetery, Bonner Springs, KS. Memorial Contributions are suggested to First Baptist Church in Peculiar, Missouri.

Elizabeth LaVinia Richardson was born July 10, 1923, in a little log cabin near Tiffin, (St. Clair County) Missouri. She was the first child of Cloe Frances Lee (Ball) Richardson and Charles Walter Richardson. She was later joined by three sister and three brothers, Mary Matilda, Frances Lee, Anna Mae, David Louis, Charles Thomas and William Wesley Richardson.

The Richardson Family spent a few years in Nebraska returning to Missouri in early 1930’s. The Richardson children all entered school in a little one room school near Tiffin, MO. The school’s name was Union Point. LaVinia graduated from the eighth grade from Union Point. That fall she entered high school at El Dorado Springs, MO. She graduated high school in 1942.

November 1942 she was united in marriage to James William Bradley. This was the beginning of World War II. Bill was in the military at the time and was gone for several months. LaVinia was able to join Bill for a short time in Big Spring, Texas. To this union two children were born: James Walter Bradley and Norman Edward Bradley.

Bill was a farmer by trade, and when he returned from service, the Bradley family returned to the farm. They farmed until 1970 when Bill became ill and had to retire from farming. That fall they bought a house in Peculiar, and in January 1971, they moved to Peculiar.

In May 1966, LaVinia had gone to work for J.C. Penney Company and continued to work until January 1990 when Bill became very ill, and she needed to be home with him. Bill died March 3, 1990. LaVinia remained in the home in Peculiar. She became more active with her Sunday school class and other ladies of the Church interested in quilting. They made several quilts giving them to the Baptist Boys Home and the Apple Festival for sale in the name of the Church. She also became active with the Peculiar Senior Citizens serving as Vice President for several years.

In 1998 or 1999, LaVinia met James Leroy McMannama through Senior Citizens. They became very close friends and were married April 8, 2000. Roy died that December 8, 2000, of a massive heart attack. LaVinia returned to her home in Peculiar. After several years she moved to Rockport, TX for a short period of time returning to Kansas City, Kansas for the remainder of her days.

Surviving at this time are her brother, Charles Thomas Richardson, wife, Sharon Richardson and sister-in-law, Stacy Richardson; two sons, James Walter Bradley and Norman Edward Bradley and wife, Diane Elizabeth Bradley; grandchildren, Kimberly Marie, husband Joseph Dyer Cooney, Michael Shane Bradley, James William Bradley, Julean Bradley, Amy, husband David Morris, Dr. Elisa, husband Dr. Chad Brantly, Bethany, husband Caleb Reid, 14 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews.

Cass County Sheriff's Office K9 Captures Pursuit Suspect

Around 2:30 am this morning deputies with the Cass County Sheriff's Office Criminal Apprehension Unit attempted to stop a black 2012 Dodge truck near Strasburg, Missouri. The driver fled at a high rate of speed and eventually crashed the vehicle near S.Shimel Road and 58 Highway east of Strasburg. The driver fled on foot and was captured a short time later by Cass County K9 Loki.

The driver, identified as Joshua C. Ewing, 28, Strasburg, was treated and released at the scene before being transported to the Cass County Jail.

This afternoon Cass County Prosecutors charged Joshua Ewing with felony tampering, misdemeanor resisting arrest, misdemeanor driving while revoked, and misdemeanor stealing. His bond was set at $7500 10% Cash Only.

The truck was reported stolen to the Jackson County Sheriff's Office about 6:30 am this morning, four hours after the pursuit.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash and no deputies were injured. Joshua Ewing is currently in custody at the Cass County Jail.
