Real Time Text service available at BCMH

REAL-TIME TEXT (RTT) SERVICE AVAILABLE AT BATES COUNTY MEMORIAL HOSPITAL

Services for the disabled who have speech or hearing difficulties have received an upgrade at Bates County Memorial Hospital to Real-Time Text, or RTT.  The number for RTT at BCMH is 660-464-0303. This service is available in the BCMH Emergency Department as well as with the Nursing Supervisor.

Previously, the hospital provided TTY (Text to Teletypewriter) services, which required a stand-alone device that each side (patient and hospital) were required to own in order to utilize the service. The former TTY number was 660-200-7089 and is no longer in service.

RTT is used with a smartphone and allows a text to be sent in the same way an audible phone call is sent - immediately as it is created, with no need to press “send”. This real-time capability has distinct advantages in a hospital setting, and is especially critical for emergency calls in a medical setting.

At BCMH, RTT service is also available for outgoing messaging for patients who have speech or hearing difficulties and have need of the service, both in the emergency room and on the inpatient floor.

Bates County Memorial Hospital is committed to providing quality patient care and improving services to our community. By your side for 60 years, BCMH is working to be here for generations to come.
