Obituary - Debra S. Hastings
Debra S. Hastings, 68, of Nevada, MO passed away on Sunday February 23, 2020 at Freeman Hospital in Joplin. Debra was born June 11, 1951 to Lloyd G. and Rosa P. (Hollon) Partin in Waukesha, WI.
She enjoyed playing Bingo with Lynn Sheridan and other friends in Nevada. She was an accomplished baker and liked to fish in her younger years. Debra worked as a waitress and bartender in Butler for many years and then relocated to Nevada four years ago.
Debra is survived by her children, one son Francis Deegan of Bellflower, CA and one daughter, Angela Tripp of Benton County, AR; six grandchildren, Joshua Dominek Garrin, Jordan Blevins, Kyle Tripp, Colt Tripp, Jeffrey Tripp, and Tiffanee Rylee Deegan-Barreiro; two sisters, Pamela Griffiths and Lisa Linder. Debra was preceded in death by one son, James Paul Deegan; and her husband, Eugene Hastings.
A private family service is planned at a later date.

Breaking News: Double Fatality accident in Cass County
The Cass County Sheriff’s Office is currently assisting the Missouri Highway Patrol with a double fatality accident on 58 Highway, East of Strasburg. Commuters are requested to avoid this area if possible.

From the Cedar County Sheriffs Office
On 2/24/2020 at 7:50 AM Sgt Clay Jeffries took a report of a stolen 1998 Ford F150 in Jerico Springs. The vehicle was reported to be seen travelling west from town a few minutes previously.
Sheriff James McCrary responded to the area.
At about 8:05 Sheriff McCrary located and stopped the stolen truck which was headed east on 1550 Rd. north of Jerico Spgs. The truck was being driven by Jeremiah D. Brandell, 45.
He was arrested and has been charged with Class D Felony stealing of a motor vehicle. He is currently in Cedar County Jail on $15,000 bond.
A female passenger Nina H. Decker, 29 was also arrested. Decker is being held on warrants from Miller County Mo. and Eldorado Springs Mo. A small amount of illegal drugs (Meth) and paraphernalia was also seized. Further charges are pending.
Sgt. Clay Jeffries and Deputy Jonathon Schwalm also responded to assist with the arrests / investigation.
It should be remembered that a charge is merely an accusation and all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
