Obituary - William "Billy" Wood

William “Billy” Windell Wood, age 77 of Foster, Missouri died Monday, March 9, 2020 at his home in Foster. He was born April 8, 1942 to Clifford Neval and Jane Ellen Shafer Wood in Mound City, Kansas.

Billy is survived by his wife, Joyce Wood of Rich Hill, Missouri; two sons, Clyde Wood and wife Bobbie of Rich Hill, Missouri and Jimmy Wood and wife Denise of Hume, Missouri; a daughter, Patricia Westfall and husband James of Farmersville, Texas; sister-in-law, Doris Wood of ElDorado Springs, Missouri; 7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Obituary - Douglas Ray Leslie

Douglas Ray Leslie age 59 of Greenwood, Missouri departed this life Tuesday, March 10, 2020 at his home surrounded with family and love.

Douglas is survived by his wife Nancy L. Leslie of the home; a son, Joel E. Leslie of the home; two daughters, Erin Leslie of Lenexa, Kansas, and Keri Quinones and her husband Raul of Shawnee, Kansas; his mother, Joan Leslie of Independence, Missouri; three brothers, Mark Leslie of Lee's Summit, Missouri, Greg Leslie of Scottsdale, Arizona, and Paul Leslie of Lee's Summit, Missouri; three grandchildren, Emma, Noah, and Logan; other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 14, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri with burial in the Garden City Cemetery, Garden City, Missouri.

The family will receive friends Saturday, March 14, 2020 from 9:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.

The family suggest that memorial contributions may be made to Head For The Cure or to the Horse Power and may be left in care of the Dickey Funeral Home.

Coronavirus hotline now open in the state of Missouri

JEFFERSON CITY, MO –The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS) activated a statewide public hotline for citizens or providers needing guidance regarding the novel coronavirus, or COVID-19. At 8 a.m. today, the hotline opened and can be reached at 877-435-8411. The hotline is being operated by medical professionals and is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

“Communication is vital to our response to this rapidly-evolving situation,” said Dr. Randall Williams, director of DHSS. “For several weeks, our COVID-19 webpage has been and continues to be a great resource for the public, but having the hotline as an additional resource will likely be invaluable as citizens seek guidance for their concerns.”

To date, 46 patients in Missouri have been tested for the virus that causes COVID-19; one of those has tested positive.
“It is important to know what to do if you have concerns about an illness during this outbreak,” said Williams. “For those who may be at risk for COVID-19, we encourage them to utilize this hotline or call their health care provider or local public health agency to inform them of their travel history and symptoms. They’ll be instructed on how to receive care without exposing others to the possible illness.”

Simple preventive actions that help prevent the spread of all types of respiratory viruses include:
• Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
• Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
• Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol if soap and water are not available.

Obituary - Paul Richard Williams

Paul Richard Williams, “Walnut” “Skillsaw”, died at the age of 54 on Monday, March 9, 2020 surrounded by his family at Adrian Manor in Adrian, Missouri after a brief battle with cancer. 

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 14, 2020 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Adrian, MO with visitation from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, March 13.

Rich Hill FFA students presented the cattlemen with a neutral informational skit about Dicamba in preparation for the “Ag Issues” Program they will be taking part in. Thank you to Lora Rapp for the opportunity to peer into how students are currently advocating for the ag industry!

Past President Ivan Fischer announced he dropped off a beef donated by Brice Fischer and Dane Diehl to be processed for “MO Beef for MO Kids.” Half the beef will go to the Rich Hill school district and the other half will be donated to Butler school district. THANK YOU to both Brice and Dane.
