Obituary - Rosemary June Carsten

Rosemary June Carsten, 80, Nevada, MO, passed away on Friday, October 2, 2020 at Moore-Few Care Center in Nevada. Rosemary was born on June 9, 1940 in Tonganoxie, KS to James and Celia Agnes (Kasper) Coffey. She married Alva Howard Carsten on June 20, 1959 and he preceded her in death on June 2, 2016.

Rosemary grew up near Metz, MO and attended Metz School. She played the trumpet, excelled in basketball, adored Elvis Presley, and graduated in 1958. She worked for an insurance company and Inter-Collegiate Press in Kansas City. She managed the kitchen at Skaggs Hospital in Branson, MO and worked at FRAM in Nevada until early retirement.

Rosemary enjoyed her grandchildren, the outdoors, road trips, gardening, and refinishing antiques. She served her family, her church, and her community with joy.

Survivors include her two children, David Carsten (Linda), Nevada and Phyllis Carsten, Overland Park, KS; three grandchildren, Jeremy Cullison, Butler, MO, Christopher Carsten (Heather), Springfield, MO, and Ashley Vance (Claude), Lawrence, KS; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Rosemary was preceded in death by her husband, Alva; her parents; six brothers; and three sisters.

Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 7, 2020 at Newton Burial Park, Nevada, with Pastor Terry Mosher officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 6, 2020 at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.

Those who wish may contribute in Rosemary’s memory to Susan G. Komen (Breast Cancer Awareness) or Heartland Hospice in care of Ferry Funeral Home.


Texas man arrested for drinking and driving in Cass County

On 10/4/20 around 7:58pm the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Cass County arrested 23 year old Kyle A. Riddle of Conroe,Texas.

Mr. Riddle was arrested for 1.) Felony Driving While Intoxicated. He was booked into the Cass County Jail in Harrisonville and later released.

COVID-19 update from the Rich Hill School District



We were notified today that a Rich Hill staff member has tested positive for COVID19. This individual was last at school on October 2 . The school district has notified individuals who were close contacts. 

The staff member was also at the Book Fair from 5:45pm to 6:15pm on Thursday. We continue to disinfect all classrooms and hallways on a daily basis. Thank you.

Drive through flu shot clinic set for this month

A drive-through flu shot clinic will be held on October 15 and 16 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at High Street Family Care Clinic, located at 706 S. High Street, Butler, Mo. No appointments are necessary for established patients of any Family Care Clinic. 

New patients may only participate in the High Street FCC Drive-Through Flu Shot Clinic by calling ahead at 660-200-3627 to fill out paperwork.

Other important details for the drive-through flu shot clinic:

• Flu shots at the drive-through clinic are available for patients ages three years and up.
• High dose shots are available for patients when indicated. 
• Patients should be feeling well and free of any symptoms of illness when receiving a flu shot.
• The patient/patient insurance is responsible for payment.

By Appointment In Clinic

Due to COVID-19 precautions, flu shots are available in-clinic, at any Family Care Clinic, by appointment only for patients ages six months and up. High dosage vaccines are available for patients when indicated. Some patients may wish to consult with their provider to decide which flu vaccine is best.
