Dealing with the aftermath

While radar indicates that freezing precip has moved on for the moment, there will be more time involved in digging out and restoring power in several locations. Just as this photo of the Bates county resource vehicle was posted  it was also reported that a transformer has blown on south Delaware street, again leaving folks in the dark. Good news, we are to expect slightly drier weather with highs pushing 40 the next few days.

Osage Valley Electric Cooperative Update:

Good morning! At this time we have five outages scattered across the territory affecting approximately 170 members.

While so far there is less ice on the lines than expected, the combination of the ice and the high winds is certainly causing some issues.

The National Weather Service is forecasting more freezing rain and snow throughout the day.

Please stay inside if at all possible and remember to treat all downed lines as if they are energized.

Please do not report your outage on Facebook or Messenger. Check out our outage reporting options here: https://osagevalley.com/report-an-outage/

From the Butler Police Department

We have the Electric Dept, Fire Dept, and Street Dept out currently with lines down and tree limbs down all over Butler.

We are aware of the power being out, we do not currently have an estimated time of when it will be restored. Electric is working hard to get it back up.

From the City of Butler

The Butler Police and Fire Departments are asking all residents to please stay at home. Unless you have to be out it in this weather.

The Electric and Street Departments are working to restore power and clear streets.

Please we ask again to stay at home and not go out and travel at this time.

Expected Snow Totals

Icing will continue through the rest of the morning, then transition into snow. Road conditions are already pretty bad, but putting another couple inches of snow on top of the icy surfaces will make for very dangerous (and maybe impassible) road conditions later today.

Snow moves out from southwest to northeast by the late afternoon to mid evening hours.

Road closed in Adrian

The Adrian Fire Department currently has 18 Highway just east of I-49 at Adrian closed at this time due to power lines being over the road!

PLEASE STAY HOME IF YOU CAN!!!
