Obituary - Murel D. Geyer

Murel D. Geyer, age 89, of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, passed away on Friday, March 12, 2021 in Lee’s Summit, Missouri.

A memorial service will be held at a time to be determined. Murel will later be laid to rest at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville.

Murel was born in Oilton, Oklahoma on February 21, 1932 to Ezra W. Geyer and Minnie E. (Anderson) Geyer. Shortly after graduating high school, Murel proudly served his country in the United States Army in Korea with the 8th Army 204th Artillery from 1952 to 1954. Murel married Charelene, the "prettiest girl in the room," on September 10, 1955 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Kansas City, Missouri. 

Together they were blessed with two children, Carl and Teresa. Murel loved participating in scouting programs with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed spending time with his family, hiking in the outdoors, studying history and was a skilled wood carver. Murel loved his Savior and was an active member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, where he had many beloved friends.

Murel was preceded in death by his parents, Ezra and Minnie Geyer; son, Carl Geyer; and three brothers, Denver, Donal, and Earl Geyer.

He is survived by his loving wife of over 65 years, Charelene Geyer; daughter, Teresa Lally (Rick); daughter in law, Kathy Geyer Semoni (Anthony); brother Billy Joe Geyer (Carole); five grandchildren, Christina Phillips (Aaron), Carl Geyer Jr. (Ila), Richard Lally (Loren), Alyssa Lally, and Mathew Lally; and five great grandchildren, Kelsi, Aubrey, Carter, Reed, and Nason.


Iowa man injured in Linn County Kansas Crash

On 3/13/21 around 5:20pm the Kansas State Highway Patrol in Linn County along with Linn County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a one vehicle accident on K7 Southbound just north of E 300th Road in rural Linn County.

The Kansas State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2006 Audi driven by 27 year old Diaz Ramos of Monticello, Iowa veered off the left side of the roadway, hit a guardrail, ditch and utility pole before coming to rest in a field.

Diaz Ramos sustained serious injuries in this accident and he was transported to Overland Park Regional Medical Center for treatment.

The vehicle was totaled and towed from the scene of this accident by RB Tow.

Rockville woman injured in Henry County Crash

On 3/14/21 around 9:23pm the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Henry County along with Henry County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a one vehicle accident on Route K just south of SW 600 Road in rural Henry County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2014 Ford Mustang driven by 36 year old Tonja L. Doles of Rockville, Missouri lost control of her vehicle on wet roads, the vehicle traveled off the roadway and down a embankment.

Tonja J. Doles sustained moderate injuries in this accident and she was transported to Golden Valley Memorial Hospital in Clinton for treatment.

The vehicle received minor damages and it was towed from the scene of this accident by Gary's Tow.

Stolen vehicle in Henry County

STOLEN VEHICLE -- 2004 JEEP CHEROKEE SUV, blue in color, bearing unknown MO registration, possibly HP6-V2P.

Vehicle was taken from the 300 block of South 4th Street, Deepwater, shortly before 7:30 a.m. on Sunday, March 14th, 2021, unknown direction of travel, but believed to still be in the Henry County area.

Important council meeting this week

The Butler city council currently has a pretty full plate- and as priorities go, the situation with the Kansas City Beef Company looms near the top.

After the planning commission voted not to allow rezoning for on site slaughter last week, the final say will come from the council who will meet Tuesday night at 7 pm. 

The meeting most likely will be held online via Zoom. You can find the link to join on the City of Butler Facebook page.

Way to go Jagur Eidson

Congratulations to Butler Bear Jagur Eidson for making the All-District Class 3 District 13 team.

Eidson averaged 13 ppg and 3 rpg, making 53 3’s shooting at 37%.

Jagur has now received this honor in consecutive years.
