Juvenile hurt in Bates County Crash in rural Adrian

On March 27th around 2:56pm the Missouri State Highway Patrol along with Bates County Sheriff's Deputies and Adrian Police Department responded to a one vehicle accident on CR NE 1503 south of NE CR 13004 in rural Adrian.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2012 Ford Explorer driven by 69 year old Esther P. Reitz of Adrian, Missouri traveled off the left side of the roadway striking a tree, fence and telephone junction box before coming to rest.

A 14 year old female juvenile occupant in the vehicle sustained moderate injuries and was transported by private vehicle to Cass Regional Medical Center in Harrisonville for treatment.

The vehicle was totaled and towed from the scene of this accident by Adrian Tow.

One dead after fatality motorcycle accident in Henry County

On March 27th around 6:10pm the Missouri State Highway Patrol along with Henry County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a fatality accident on CR NW 1301 just south of CR NW 900 in rural Henry County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when 57 year old Max D. Overbay of Raytown, Missouri had a medical emergency why riding his 1995 Harley Davidson Motorcycle.

Max D. Overbay was pronounced dead and was transported to the Jackson County Medical Examiners Office.

Obituary - James Milvoy “Jim” Henzlik

James Milvoy “Jim” Henzlik, was born on March 7, 1943 the son of Milvoy B. and Hilda Opal (Norton) Henzlik. He passed away peacefully at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri on March 23, 2021, age 78. 

He grew up in the Mt. Zion area, graduating from Clinton High School in 1961. Shortly after completing his education, Jim began a 34 year career as MODOT employee, where he retired as a shed boss in 1998.

Along with this, Jim met and married Lorine Jenette Pratt on June 6, 1964, his wife of 56 years. To this union, two children were born: Linda and Michael. Jim was a devoted family man, who cherished his family, especially his grandchildren. He rarely missed a school event that his grandkids participated in at St. Mary’s and Montrose High School. Jim loved leading many exciting family vacations across the country, getting his family through numerous mishaps and happy adventures. He further was a renown gunsmith in the Montrose area and was highly sought after so long as he remained able. He dearly enjoyed going to gun shows and swap meets. Jim never met a stranger, and had an uncanny ability to socialize with everyone in ear shot. He also liked hunting, fishing, and anything outdoors that involved a gun. Jim will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Milvoy B. and Hilda Opal (Norton) Henzlik.

He is survived by his wife, Lorine (Pratt) Henzlik; his children: daughter, Linda (Rick) Hearting, and one son, Michael (Michelle) Henzlik; and his two grandchildren: Taylor and Jesse Henzlik; along with extended family and many good friends.



Obituary - Becky Jo (Trude) Rider

Becky (Trude) Rider, 63 was born January 1, 1958 and passed away on Friday, March 19, 2021 in Magnolia, TX as a result of a battle with cancer. Becky was a vibrant and loving spouse, sister, and friend to all; she was beautiful inside and out. Her husband, Brian Rider was by her side and was a vigilant caregiver throughout the process. Becky and Brian were married July 6, 1997; he was the love of her life.

Becky went to Benton Elementary School, Nevada Middle School, and Sheldon High School. She received her nursing degree and became a beloved and trusted member of the surgical team at Northwest Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery in Spring, Texas.

Becky was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Lee Trude and Mary JoAnn (Neuman) Trude; grandparents, Ruby and Floyd Brown and Mildred and Roy Trude. She is survived by her brother Terry Trude and sisters Brenda Lee Borders, Debra Ann Trude-Suter, Donna Kay Payne. She is also survived by her nephews Robert Wayne Payne, Larry J. Borders, Jr, Patrick Wayne Leavell and her nieces Rendi (Borders) Cox, Rebecca Borders, Rachel Doty and great-nephews and nieces – Blair Dice, Shari Jo Borders, Jayme Borders, Jaycee Cox, Kaylee Cox, Alyssa Cox, cousins from the following families—Brown, Carl, Hickmans and her best friend who was like a sister to her, Lawonda Williams and a host of friends and colleagues who played very important roles in her life. Becky will be missed by all who knew her.

There will be memorial services held for Becky in Magnolia, Texas and Sheldon, Missouri; dates to be determined.

Obituary - George Roy Jackson

George Roy Jackson, age 77, of Yates Center, Kansas passed away Thursday, March 25, 2021. He was born on May 17, 1943 in Madrid, Nebraska the son of Louis and Eileen Jackson. He graduated from Parker High School. George was united in marriage to Carolyn Sue Booth on August 20, 1961 in Republic, Missouri. George loved the Lord Jesus and went to church on a regular basis.

He had several different occupations including General Motors and retired as an operations manager for Kansas City Power and Light. While working at KCP&L he also had a farming operation which he enjoyed immensely. He and his wife spent many weekends making unforgettable memories camping, boating, and fishing with their loved ones. He also enjoyed riding and taking care of his horses. 

He was known for his love of people and sense of humor and will be missed by many. After retirement, George and wife Sue traveled many places. They particularly enjoyed going to Texas for the winter. He considered his family to be the most important part of his life. He and Sue greatly enjoyed spending time with their kids, grandkids and great grandkids.

George was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Linda Smith. George is survived by his wife, Sue, son, Greg Jackson, daughter, Julie Galemore and husband Matt, brother, Larry Jackson, sister, Jane Mayes, five grandchildren, Justin Jackson, Lacey Akridge, Luke Galemore, Madeline Galemore, and Rachel Galemore, and six great grandchildren, Kru Galemore, Kora Galemore, Malakai Nieto, Taylor Akridge, Alex Akridge, and Harrison Jackson.



Visitation is on Tuesday, March 30Th from 5 to 7p.m. at Schneider Pleasanton Chapel. The Funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at 11 a.m. at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Pleasanton Chapel. Graveside services will be held after the funeral at the Yates Center Cemetery at 2p.m. Wednesday. George will lie in state from 12 noon Monday to service time at Schneider Pleasanton Chapel. Obituary - Diana Sue Adair

Diana Sue Adair, age 54, La Cygne, Kansas passed away Thursday, March 25, 2021 at her home in La Cygne. She was born on October 13, 1966 in Kansas City, Kansas the daughter of William John and Barbara Lee Brents Adair. She was a graduate of Bonner Springs High School. She was united in marriage to Randy Tinsley in 1984. To this union, four children were born. 


She managed TNT Farm along with Tinsley Electric and was most recently employed with the US Postal Service. However, she truly enjoyed being a homemaker. Diana enjoyed gardening and had a green thumb. She liked reading, board games, crocheting, and putting puzzles together. She was preceded in death by a sister, DeAnna Reynolds, and a niece, Jane Adair. Diana is survived by her parents, children, Lacy Tinsley(Jeremy Yeager), Clinton Tinsley, Dustin Tinsley, and Katrina Weers(Joey) a brother, William Adair(Misty), and six grandchildren, Steven, Emma, Madilyn, Isabella, Dexter and Sunni.

Funeral service will be 2 pm Wednesday March 31, 2021 at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, La Cygne Chapel. Burial in the Oak Lawn Cemetery.
