BCSO is supporting child abuse awareness month
You may have noticed the blue pinwheels outside the Sheriffs Office and other spots around town. April is child abuse awareness month and thus explains the blue pinwheels!
Children are the future of our community and it’s our job as adults to make sure they grow up healthy and safe.
If you see something, say something. Missouri child abuse hotline is toll free and anyone can report child abuse! Call 800-392-3738.
Did you know you can also file a child abuse report online? Go to www.dss.mo.gov to make a report online. You can also contact the Sheriffs Office at 660-679-3232 to report child abuse.
Flags to be flown at half staff!
By order of the President of the United States, the United States flag at all State and government offices will be flown at half-staff, immediately until sunset on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 as a sign of respect for the service and sacrifice of the victims of the attack at the United States Capitol on Friday, April 2, 2021.
Narcotics search warrant served in Nevada
On April 1, 2021, Nevada Police executed a search warrant in the 700 block of E. Lee Street in response to reports of the illegal use of narcotics at that location.

Detectives had developed information regarding two male subjects at that location that had reportedly been involved in illegal drug activity. Officers had received recent complaints in regards to the activity at this location.

Any and all information can be kept confidential if requested.

During the search, detectives located and seized suspected controlled substances including methamphetamine, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia. The evidence seized has been sent to the Missouri State Highway Patrol Crime Lab for further analysis.
The two male subjects were taken into custody by Nevada Police and transported to the Vernon County Jail for holding. The subjects have been identified as follows:
Otis A. McCullick, age 56 of Nevada
Christopher E. Shipp, age 33 of Nevada
On April 2, 2021, the following charges were filed against Otis A. McCullick and Christopher E. Shipp through the Vernon County
Associate Court:
One (1) Count of Possession of Controlled Substance – Class D Felony
One (1) Count of Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia - Class D Misdemeanor
McCullick & Shipp are being held in the Vernon County Jail in lieu of a $10,000 cash-only bond.
Citizens are encouraged to contact the police if they have any information that would be helpful to combat crime.

Obituary - Kenneth E. Stevens
Kenneth E. Stevens, 70, of Archie, Missouri, died Friday, April 2, 2021 at the Kansas City Hospice House in Kansas City, Missouri.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday, April 8, 2021 at the First Baptist Church in Archie, MO.
Memorial contributions may be made to the University of Kansas, Willed Body Program. A complete obituary will be posted when it becomes available.
Obituary - Bud Flanary
Bud Flanary, 70, of Harrisonville, Missouri, passed away Sunday, April 4, 2021 at the Kansas City Hospice House in Kansas City, Missouri.
Services are pending at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville.
