Obituary - Dennis Evan Sanders

Dennis Evan Sanders, 41, of Belton, MO, met his untimely death on the morning of Tuesday, April 6th 2021 after a valiant three week long battle with COVID-19 and related complications.

A visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 10, 2021 at Cullen Funeral Home, 612 W. Foxwood Dr. Raymore, Missouri 64083. A funeral services will be held for Dennis immediately following at 6:00 p.m.

Dennis was born on Monday, February 4th, 1980, in Springfield, MO. Raised by Linda and Steve Spence in Belton, MO; he was the oldest and most mischievous of three ornery boys.

Dennis graduated from Belton High in 1998, where he developed passions for football, martial arts, music, racing, and discovered his talents for electrical vocation. Also, while in high school, Dennis met former wife Tina Lehnherr. The two started their family and were married on September 18th 1999. Together they had three beautiful girls, Danielle, Candice and Linsey Sanders.

Dennis became an electrical apprentice through the Associated Builders and Contractors Electricians School, and eventually received his Master Electrician License, and formed Genesis 1 Electric, Inc.

Outside of work Dennis pursued his other passions, concentrating on building/racing cars, and martial arts - eventually earning a black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, and coaching classes at Ground Zero BJJ and Self Defense Gym.

Dennis was remarried to Jodi Sanders on January 13th 2020. Their time together was brief, but full of adventure.

Dennis was preceded in death by his grandparents, and cousins Jimmy Splain, and Mike Hamilton. Dennis is survived by his wife Jodi Sanders, daughters Danielle, Candice, and Linsey Sanders, stepchildren Jayden and Emma Upton, former wife Tina Lehnherr, parents Linda and Steve Spence, brothers Kenny and Derek Spence, and half-sister Angela Allison.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Special Olympics Missouri, 305 Special Olympics Dr., Jefferson City, Missouri 65101.

Warsaw man killed in Benton County crash

On April 6th around 7:08 p.m. the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Benton County along with Benton County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a one vehicle accident on MM Highway just east of Paradise Road near Warsaw.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2011 Ford Fusion driven by 45 year old George M. Cecil of Warsaw, Missouri traveled off the left side of the roadway striking a ditch and causing the vehicle to overturn and eject the driver.

George M. Cecil was pronounced dead around 7:40 p.m. at a local hospital. This is Troop A of the Missouri State Highway Patrol's 21st fatality of the year 2021.

Obituary - Jack B. Viar

Jack B. Viar, 85, of Overland Park, Kansas, formerly of Clinton, Missouri passed away Sunday, April 4, 2021 at the Brookdale Overland Park Care Center. He was born September 28, 1935 in Kansas City, Kansas, the son of Fred W. Viar and A. Lucille (Keplinger) Viar.
He married Virginia “Jenny” Hall Walk on April 3, 1959 in Miami, Oklahoma. She survives of the home. Jack attended Baker University in Baldwin, Ks. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Central Missouri State University, now the University of Central Missouri, and his Master’s degree from the University of Missouri. Jack retired in 2000 from mental health counseling and consultation. He did post graduate study at the School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine, Mental Health Section, Tulane University, receiving his certificate in mental health consultation and supervision of mental health consultants. He was employed with the Missouri Department of Corrections as a caseworker from 1959-1962, Fulton State Hospital from 1963-1967, Director, Mental Health Services, East Central Missouri Mental Health Center from 1967-1973, where he established the first comprehensive community mental health center in Missouri. He served as Director of Tri-County Community Mental Health Center in North Kansas City from 1973-1981, and then was in private practice of mental health consultation and counseling services. Jack served his country honorably with the United States Air Force. Among the honors he has received are: Who’s Who in the Midwest from 1968 through 1981 edition; Who’s Who in America, May of 1980; Who’s Who in Health Care, 1980-1981; Personalities of the West and Midwest, 1971 through 1981 edition; and Certificate of Merit for Distinguished Service to the Community, 1976-1977, and 1981. He published an article titled “Surviving a Financial Crisis: A Community Mental Health Center Modifies Traditional Roles,” in Hospital and Community Psychiatry, October of 1972. Jack was a member of the Clinton United Methodist Church. He enjoyed camping, traveling by RV, spending time with his family, fishing and reading. He also enjoyed cheering on his Mizzou Tigers, enjoyed horses and all animals, but especially enjoyed dogs. In addition to his wife Jenny, surviving are one son, Andrew J. Viar, Kansas City, Mo.; two daughters, Julie A. Rinas, Austin, Texas and Amy L. Watkins and her husband, David, Overland Park, Ks.; two grandsons, Michael H. Kraft, San Francisco, California and Steven D. Viar, Kansas City, Mo.; two granddaughters, Jacqueline Mayer and her husband Michael, Austin, Tx., and Emily Rinas, Austin, Tx.; one sister, Barbara L. Van, Belton, Mo.; and his furry adopted “son” Bailey Viar. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Fred W. Viar. Memorial service will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 17, 2021 at the Bradley & Hadley Funeral Home, Clinton. The family will meet with friends following the memorial service for light refreshments. Social distancing will be observed. Interment will be at a later date in Baldwin, Ks. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Clinton Animal Rescue Endeavor, (C.A.R.E.), or the Clinton Literacy Council. These donations may be left in care of the funeral home. COMMITTEE MEETING
The City of Butler will reopen City Hall on April 12th, 2021. Based upon State guidelines the following recommendations are in effect until further guideline modifications from the State is given.

• It is highly encouraged that all patrons wear masks upon entering City Hall.
• Maintain social distancing of 6 feet or more while in City Hall.
• If you have any symptoms of COVID please don’t enter the establishment.
Council Meetings and Committee Meetings
• It is recommended that everyone maintain social distancing when at the meeting.
• If social distancing is not an option, it is highly recommended that masks be worn.
• Seating should be arranged so that maximum distancing is maintained.
