Lamar man charged in 16 month old childs death

On March 31st around 8:40pm Lamar Police Officers responded to a 911 call about a child not breathing. They got to E. 17th Street in Lamar and found a 16-month-old child who was not breathing at the time. Officers started life saving measures. 

An ambulance took the child to Cox Barton County Hospital where they pronounced the child as deceased.

The Lamar Police Department investigated and sent the case to the Barton County Prosecutor. 

The prosecutor’s office filed the following formal charges against 31-year-old Jeremy R. Vanmeter: First Degree Endangerment of a child resulting in death and Abuse or Neglect of a child resulting in death.

When: ‘Round the clock from 7 a.m., Monday, April 26 to 5 p.m. Friday, April 30

What: Route F CLOSED to allow MoDOT crews to replace a deteriorating drainpipe underneath the road

Traffic Impacts:
All Route F lanes CLOSED where crews are working
Drivers will have access to driveways at either end of the work zone, but will not be able to travel through the work zone

No signed detour:
Signs and message boards will alert drivers to the work zone
Drivers should find alternate route

Weather and/or scheduling conflicts could alter the work schedule.

Obituary - Kim D. Osborn

Kim D. Osborn, 57, of Adrian, Missouri passed away Friday, April 16, 2021 at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri. 

Funeral services will be on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at 11:00 am at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Adrian, Missouri. 

The family will receive friends from 10:00 - 11:00 am. Burial in Crescent Hill Cemetery, Adrian, MO.

Update: Missing boy from Barton County found safe

Previous Story:
The Barton County Sheriffs Office is attempting to locate Dalton Freeze and his 3-year old son. Dalton left his home in Liberal, MO with his son yesterday at around 1600 hours. 

It was later discovered that he left his phone, money, and did not take a diaper bag or anything for his son...he told a family member he was taking his son out for ice-cream but never returned.

Dalton was last seen driving a silver 2007 Dodge Caliber Hatchback, MO license NB7A7L. If you see the Dalton and/or the vehicle, please contact Barton County Sheriff's Office.
