Nice warm-up through the weekend and into early next week

Scattered showers with a few rumbles of thunder (mainly S. of I-70) will be possible later this afternoon and into the overnight hours. Then we will see a nice warm-up through the weekend and into early next week.

Rich Hill anxiously awaits lower electric rates

Since question 2 passed by an incredible 98% majority in the election earlier this month, the city of Rich Hill will officially be getting an electrical upgrade, with a reduction of cost at the same time. Beginning August 1st, Osage Valley Electric Cooperative will assume the duty of providing electrical power to the population of just under 1500 that will include replacement of overhead power lines and poles throughout the city as well.

While the line upgrade will certainly enhance overall reliability, customers will also enjoy an almost unheard of reduction of energy cost to the tune of about 14% compared to current provider Evergy.
