Obituary - Eva Jane (Fletcher) Jilek

Eva Jane Jilek, age 74 of Rich Hill, Missouri passed away on Thursday, May 13, 2021 at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri. Eva is survived by her husband, Larry K. Jilek, sons, David L. Jackson (Annette), Douglas L. Jackson (Shanlea), a daughter, Danita S. Miller (Michael), step-children, Delana Crist (Raymond), Dustin Jilek (Jannette) and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Funeral Service will be at 2;00 pm, Tuesday, May 18 at Heuser Funeral Home, Rich Hill, Missouri. Visitation will be held from 1:00 pm to service time on Tuesday at the Heuser Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Fairview-Rider Cemetery. The family suggests contributions to Community Food Pantry, Butler, Missouri and may be sent in care of Heuser Funeral Home.

Obituary -Peggy Ann Heckadon

Peggy Ann Heckadon, age 71, of Rich Hill, Missouri passed away Friday, May 14, 2021 at her home with her family at her bedside. Peggy was born September 26, 1949 in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Delores (Stevens) VanBlaricum. She united in marriage to Stonie Heckadon of Rich Hill on November 21, 1975. Peggy was a retired school teacher.

She is survived by her husband, Stonie, of the home; daughters: Tabitha & Don Polacek, Melissa & Cyrus Nichols, Michelle Ryan; son, Justin (Karen Jones) Heckadon; 10 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Charles VanBlaricum Jr. and Thomas VanBlaricum.

Peggy was preceded in death by one child; her parents, Charles & Delores VanBlaricum; parents-in-law, Leroy “Cotton” & Lucille Heckadon; brothers, Doug VanBlaricum and Robert VanBlaricum; and one great-grandson, Caine Schmidt.

Funeral Service will be at 2:00pm, Monday, May 17, 2021 at Heuser Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 1:00 pm until service time. Burial will be at the Green Lawn Cemetery.


Stabbing in Lamar

On May 15th Lamar police officers were dispatched to a disturbance on College St here in Lamar.

When they arrived, officers found there had been an argument over a motor vehicle accident. Officers also discovered that during the argument the reported driver stabbed another person in the neck.

The victim was transported to a Springfield hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Rosie K Pitts, 46 of Lamar Mo, was formally charged through the Barton County Prosecutors office with 1st degree assault and is currently being held at the Vernon County jail in lieu of $250,000 bond.

Remembering Our Fallen Hero's Memorial Ride

On June 3rd at 930 am a group of motorcycles and vehicles will leave American Legion Post 639 in Springfield, MO enroute to the Walmart Clinton MO. to meet and escort OIF/OEF Remember Our Fallen Memorial back to Springfield.

Everyone is welcome to join us. We should arrive in Clinton at approximately 1130pm. We will depart with a law enforcement escort back to Post 639 arriving back in Springfield around 245pm.

We hope to have people along the route, waving flags in show of support. The overpasses at Deepwater and in Bolivar are great places to view, take pictures and videos of the escort, but please do this safely.

Local Fire Departments will be setup as we leave Clinton and on overpasses along our route. For more information contact Mike at 417-225-2650.



Obituary - Mary Lee Seymour

Mary Lee Seymour, age 81, of Clinton, Missouri passed away on May 15th, 2021, surrounded by family at her daughter and son-in-law’s home in Tiogo, North Dakota. She fought a long hard battle with cancer.

Mary Lee was born February 4th, 1940, in Warsaw, Missouri. She was raised in Deepwater, Missouri and graduated from Deepwater High School in 1958. Mary Lee was an active member in her church, First Baptist. She was also very active in Eastern Star.

Mary Lee was very crafty, she loved crocheting, making angels, singing, gardening and her flowers. She loved traveling and people. She would help anybody.

Mary Lee was a loving: Mom, sister, daughter, grandmother and great grandmother. She had many, many friends. Her closest friends were also her neighbors and these 3 women helped and loved Mary Lee so much, Mary Crosswhite, Pat Zehnder, and Maureen Wallace. Mary Lee loved them just as much.

Mary Lee was preceded in death by several family members but the most recent was her mother Mildred Hayes. She is survived by her sister Mable, her daughter Vicky (Aaron), grandchildren Mark and Krystie (Nick) and great grandchildren Zachary, Riley and Casey.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Vansant-Mills Funeral Home in Clinton, Missouri and are pending at this time.

Obituary - Eddie Lee Holland

Eddie Lee Holland, 70, of Nevada, MO passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at Nevada Regional Medical Center. Eddie was born March 3, 1951 in Bronaugh, MO to Claud Lee and Nina Anna Holland. He married Shelia Jeffries in 1971 and together they had two daughters. They later divorced.

Eddie worked may years as a carpet installer and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, and spending time with his daughters and grandchildren.

Survivors include two daughters, Tammy Wagner, and Pam Richmond, both of Nevada, MO; four grandchildren, Seth Chanove, Ryan Chanove, Kyla West, and Braxton Richmond; and one niece Brenda Pattit of Ft. Scott, KS.

A Memorial Service will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, MO. The family will receive friends following the service.
