Obituary - Everett Ray Redd

Everett Ray Redd, age 88, La Cygne, Kansas passed away on Friday, June 11, 2021. He was born on April 1, 1933 in Barton County, Missouri the son of Ray William and Ernestine Francis Blasier Redd. He lived in the Pittsburg, Kansas area most of his life until moving to La Cygne, Kansas ten years ago. 

He proudly served his country in the United States Army. He worked as a truck driver beginning when he was fourteen years old. He drove his last truck at the age of eighty-seven. He was named truck driver of the year in 1992. He was preceded in death by his parents. 

Everett is survived by his special friend, Dona Lawrence, brother, Dean Redd(Norma), and two sisters, Lois Hendren(Vincent) and Linda Williamson(Wayne).

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 am Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, La Cygne, Kansas. Burial service will be 2 pm Wednesday at Mt Olive Cemetery, Pittsburg, Kansas. Rosary will be prayed 5:30 pm Tuesday June 15 at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, La Cygne Chapel. 

Visitation will be held from 6 to 7 pm Tuesday at the La Cygne Chapel. Contributions are suggested to the Disabled American Veterans. Online condolences can be left at www.schneiderfunerals.com.

Rural Vernon County man arrested in Bates County

On June 11th around 8:00 a.m. the Bates County Sheriff's Office arrested 35 year old Robert A. Blurton of Milo, Missouri.

Mr. Blurton was arrested for alleged probation violations which indicates Blurton pleaded guilty in July, 2015 to felony charges alleging 2nd Degree burglary, the possession of a controlled substance and resisting arrest and sentencings were suspended, pending supervised probation.

Blurton is being held in the Bates County Jail on a $7,500 cash only bond.

Motor vehicle accident on the outer road of I-49 near Adrian

The Adrian Fire Department along with Butler Fire Department, Bates County EMS and Bates County Sheriff's Office Deputies are on scene of a motor vehicle accident on the outer road off of I-49 near mile marker 138 around 2 miles north of Passaic at this time.

Three people are said to be injured in this accident and are being transported.

Obituary - Ralph "Jerry" Herren

Ralph "Jerry" Herren, 80, Nevada, MO, passed away Friday, June 11, 2021.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 16, at 10:00a.m. at Ferry Funeral Home with Pastors Dennis Englebrecht and Jason Daniels officiating. 

Burial will follow in Newton Burial Park. Memorials to Heartland Hospice are suggested. Friends may call until the hour of service at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, MO.

Obituary - David R. Jackson

David R. Jackson, age 81, rural La Cygne, Kansas passed away suddenly at his home Thursday, June 10, 2021. He had been in ill health the past few months. David was born August 11, 1939 in La Cygne to Clifford and Clara Dunavan Jackson. He graduated from La Cygne Rural High School in the Class of 1957. 

David was active in music throughout his high school years and sang at many weddings during his music career and he was a member of the National FFA Chorus his senior year of high school. He was employed by Simmons Gun in Olathe, Kansas and was a Rural Route Mail Carrier for 31 years.

David married Rosanne Walden at the Virginia Methodist Church near Butler, Missouri on June 7, 1963 and had recently celebrated 58 years of marriage. David loved life and enjoyed every minute. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed hunting pheasants in Western Kansas for many years. He loved telling stories of his past with old friends as well as new.

David served in the United States Army and Kansas National Guard. He enjoyed traveling with Rosanne and had visited almost every state in the Union including Alaska and Nova Scotia. Farming was in his blood and he loved his cows. David was preceded in death by his parents, in laws, Mervin and Evelyn (Karr) Walden Jackson(later married to Fred Jackson), a sister, Maretta Jameson and brother in law Virgil Jameson. David was a member of the La Cygne United Methodist Church, Parker Masonic Lodge, Mirza Temple, Scottish Rite Consistory, and American Legion Hewitt New Post, Mound City.

He was a former member of the Linn County Fair Board, Linn County Planning Commission and a Cadmus 4-H Leader. Survivors include his living wife, Rosanne, son Ryan Jackson and wife Linda, son Joe Jackson and wife Denise, sister, Ann Garrett(Tom), his favorite and only grandson Brody(Ryan and Linda), step-grandchildren, Tracy(Courtney)Caldarera, Adam Simoneaux(Ashley), step great grandchildren, Olivia, Camron, Ashley, Carson, Cohen and Kynlee. He is also survived by a niece and 3 nephews. He had many friends and neighbors including a special neighbor Charles Rhynerson. As his hunting buddies would say, "Till we meet at the end of the last draw".

Funeral service will be 10 am Monday, June14, 2021 at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, La Cygne Chapel. Burial with Masonic Service will be in the Star Valley Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 pm Sunday at the Schneider La Cygne Chapel.

Obituary -William "Bill" Cole Jr.

William "Bill" Cole Jr. age 66 of Belton, Missouri departed this life Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at his home.

Bill is survived by his son, Billy Cole of Belton, Missouri; a companion Judith A. Cole of Belton, Missouri; his mother, Martha Cole of Belton, Missouri; two sisters Linda Cole of Belton, Missouri and RayeAnn Bonar and her husband David of Creighton, Missouri; and a grandson, William Scott Cole; other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services will be held 7:00 p.m. Thursday, June 17, 2021 at the Dickey Funeral Home in Harrisonville, Missouri.

Family will receive friends from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. Thursday, June 17, 2021 at the funeral home.

Graveside services will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 18, 2021 at the Byler Cemetery near Creighton, Missouri.
