Obituary - Elfriede Helena Sparks

Elfriede Sparks, age 84, passed away on Thursday September 2,2021 at Golden Valley Memorial Hospital in Clinton, Missouri. Funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at Vansant-Mills Chapel in Clinton. 

Visitation will be from 2:00-3:00 PM prior to the service. Burial to follow in Calhoun Cemetery in Calhoun, Missouri.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Clinton Animal Rescue Endeavor (C.A.R.E.) and can be left in care of the funeral home. Fond memories and condolences can be left online at www.vansant-millsfuneralhome.com.

One injured in rollover accident near Butler

On September 4th around 4:22 a.m. the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Bates County along with Butler Fire Department and Bates County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a one vehicle rollover accident in the southbound lanes of I-49 just south of TT Highway north of Butler.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2020 Toyota driven by 28 year old Bridgette C. Castaneda of Belton, Missouri travelled off the roadway, struck the guardrail end and returned to the roadway, the vehicle then overturned coming to rest on its wheels. 

Bridgette C. Castaneda sustained moderate injuries in this accident and she was transported by ambulance to Bates County Memorial Hospital for treatment.

The Toyota was totaled and towed from the scene of the accident by Douty's Tow of Butler.

Obituary - Daisy E. Duncan

Daisy E. Duncan, 83, of Harrisonville, Missouri departed this life, Wednesday, September 2, 2021, at the Windsor Manor Care Center in Windsor, Missouri.

Funeral services are pending under the care of Stanley-Dickey Funeral Home, Pleasant Hill, Missouri.

An individual in the District has tested positive for COVID-19. As soon as the individual and the District were aware of the situation, the individual self-isolated and has not returned to school.

Though we know you will have many questions and concerns, in order to protect the privacy of the individual involved, the District is incredibly limited as to the information it can share with you; however, if you’d like to ask specific questions regarding any next steps you may need to take, please contact the Cass County Health Department.

Obituary - Elmer Olive Hines

Elmer Olive Hines, 84, Creighton, Missouri departed this life on Thursday, September 3, 2021 at his home surrounded by love and family.

He is survived by his daugher, LeAnne Salmon and husband Terry, Creighton, Missouri; two grandchildren, Jordon Lee Salmon and Melaina Christine Salmon both of Peculiar, Missouri; a brother, Donald W. Hines, Houston, Missouri; other relatives and friends.

Cremation. A private family inurnment will be held at the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Creighton, Missouri at a later date.
