Obituary - Doris Louise (Jacobs) Hargrove

Doris Louise (Jacobs) Hargrove, passed away on 4th September 2021 from causes incident to age. Born to Lonnie Herchel Jacobs and Clara Ettie Choate, Doris grew up running barefoot through the hills and climbing the trees of rural Oklahoma with her siblings.

She fell in love with Robert Lee Hargrove (Bob) and moved to Kansas City where they married on 29 October 1948. They were sealed together for time and all eternity in the Dallas Temple on 25 October 1995. They raised their five children in Mission, Kansas, where the kids learned the value of hard work the old-fashioned way in their dad's butcher shop.

Doris was a dedicated wife and mother. In 1957, she joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, changing the course of her family's path forever. Her example of dedication to the gospel will remain in our hearts as an example of righteousness.

After a formal retirement, Bob and Doris built a beautiful home atop a hill overlooking a lake in Pleasanton, Kansas. This is where her heart is still. Doris was known for her skills in gardening and food preservation, even having an article written about her incredible food storage. She was a talented artist who filled her home with delightful oil paintings. Doris was a member of PEO. Doris was incredibly generous with her worldly possessions and selflessly passed along treasures as her family admired them.

She loved and blessed the lives of her 18 grandchildren. We will remember her for always having soda to drink; the complete freedom she gave us; her fudge and pecan-topped sheet cakes; her industry; taking a quick rest on a freshly-made bed; her powder puffs on her makeup table; joining her bending in the garden to harvest fresh vegetables; coming with us down to the dock to swim in the lake; always cooking and baking in the kitchen; frying freshly-caught fish for grandpa; feeding all of the barn cats; driving us "into town" and to the dump for a trash run; and for playing a mean hand of Rook. She delighted in her family and we all felt divinely loved.

Doris is survived by daughters Jeanne Moerer, of Iola, KS; Rebecca Hinds, of St Johns, AZ; Debby (David) Monk, of Mesa, AZ; son Jim, of Iola, KS; and sister Gloria McCoin, of Vinita, OK, 18 grandchildren and 56 great grandchildren

Doris and her family are so grateful for the kind care given by Windsor Place in Iola.

Tammy Lynn Brewer was born in Bentonville, Arkansas, on December 17, 1966, and entered Heaven's Gates on September 1, 2021. Tom and Hazel Brewer and kids of El Dorado Springs, Missouri, met Tammy Lynn at the age of four, there she was, this tiny little girl whom we all fell in love with instantly. 

Tom and Hazel adopted her on March 29, 1974, and they gave her a loving Christian home. Tammy Lynn inherited three siblings: Linda Brewer Smith, Ron Brewer, and Don Brewer. Her school years were at El Dorado Springs R-II through graduation. Tammy Lynn was baptized and a member of the Park Street Christian Church. Every summer, she loved going on trips to Colorado with her parents to visit family and go camping at Twin Peaks by Leadville, Colorado. Tammy Lynn loved her family and we loved her!!

Along the way, her brother Randy Yancey found her, Oh What Joy!! Randall and his wife, Belinda, live in South Carolina. Another brother, Ron Yancey and his wife, Tonya, live in Arkansas. Now the rest of the story by her brother, Randy!

Tammy, Ron, and Randy were separated at a very young age and it was more than 25 years before we were finally reunited together again. I always knew we had a sister out there somewhere and we were all so excited to finally be reunited. In the process of trying to find her we wandered around and found that we had a half-brother, Rick Laughlin and three half-sisters: Cheryl Laughlin, Fran Nichols, and Rachel Copp. We were so blessed to find them and their mom, Lona Laughlin and Diane Holmes. They took us all in as family.

We always enjoyed having Tammy spend time with us; she could be ahandful at times and very stubborn, but she loved everyone and just wanted attention. We all loved her very much. She loved spending time with family, going four-wheeling in the mud; she loved doing crafts of any kind and loved food. Tammy loved going to the beach and shopping while she was in South Carolina with her biological daughter, Elizabeth Yancey, whom we adopted at birth. Tammy entrusted us to take care of her, and for that I will always be grateful.

Tammy was special to all of us and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. If roses grow in heaven Lord, please pick a bunch for me and place them in my sister’s arms and tell her they're from me. Tell her that we love and miss her, and when she turns to smile, place a kiss upon her cheek and hold her for a while. Remembering her is easy, I will do it every day, but there is an ache in my heart that will never go away. We all love you dearly and we will see each other again one day. Love you Sis.

Tammy Lynn was preceded in death by her adoptive parents, Tom and Hazel Brewer. She is survived by: Randall and Belinda Yancey, Elizabeth Yancey, Ron and Tonya Yancey, Rick Laughlin, Rachel Copp, Fran Nichols, Cheryl Laughlin, Lona Laughlin, Diane Holmes, Linda Brewer Smith, Ron and Teresa Brewer, and Don and Diana Brewer. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles.

82nd Annual Cass County Clash

This Friday, September 10th will be the 82nd meeting on the football gridiron between Harrisonville and Pleasant Hill. The Wildcats lead the series 50-25-6.

The football rivalry was described by the Cass County Democrat newspaper in the early days of the 1920's as between, "Ancient Rivals."

The rivalry between the two town's extends back to before the Civil War, and the founding of the county.

Obituary - Larry Scheib

Larry Scheib, 67 of Lincoln, Missouri passed away Friday, September 3, 2021 at his home. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at Mullinax Funeral Home, Drexel Chapel (816-657-4400). 

A visitation will be held Wednesday prior to the service from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, also at the chapel. Burial will follow in Freeman Cemetery, Freeman, Missouri. Larry Edward Scheib was born April 30, 1954 in Harrisonville, Missouri to Merlin and Julia Pruett Scheib.

The loss of a family member is never easy. We shed our tears and our hearts are breaking but the memories you made will not be forgotten. The many weekends at the lake, the fish fries, and the general love you gave to us and our children are unforgettable. You defied all odds having beaten cancer multiple times, though the road thereafter wasn’t forgiving. I know you were ready and were at peace.

You lived a full life with no regrets. So as our hearts will start to mend, and your children remember their dad and all the grandchildren their grandpa, and your brother and sister grieve, may you sit in peace (maybe in a pair of overhauls and a flannel shirt) and with much happiness catching that biggest crappie ever.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents and dear friend and father figure Catfish Charlie. He is survived by his children, Christina Volpe and husband Brian, Angela Maloney and husband Tom, Jason Scheib and wife Alison, Bryan Scheib and wife MaKayla, Amy Huber and husband Stephen, Matthew Keeth, and Jessica Keeth. He also leaves behind 22 grandchildren whom he cherished and was very proud of each and every one, siblings, Marie Rogers and Michael Scheib and wife Pam, along with nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Obituary - Tucker Kelly Wingert

Tucker Kelly Wingert, of Pittsburg, Kan., passed away on Aug. 15, 2021, in Hays, Kan.

A celebration of life will take place at the Vernon County Fairgrounds between 2 and 4 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 11. Come and go as you please. There will be a private family burial.

Tucker was born in Joplin, Mo., to Kelly and Kristull Wingert on March 16, 1995. He graduated high school from Nevada R-5 in 2013. He married Katherine (Katie) Allison on June 19, 2021, in Nevada, Mo., just 57 days before his death. 

Katie and Tucker had four pets they love: Rosie, Ellie, Kyoshi, and Katara. He worked in Internet sales for Roper Kia in Joplin for a number of years. Tucker was interested in music, camping, and video games. His favorite was Runescape. 

He liked to collect Funko Pop figures. Tucker was the life of the party and was authentically himself. He loved to laugh and had an infectious smile. Tucker was also an amazing and caring friend to those he knew. He went above and beyond to be there for them.

Tucker is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Neil Hartson, of Clear Lake, Calif.; and paternal grandparents, James and Joyce Wingert, of Lamar, Mo.

Tucker is survived by his wife, Katie, of Pittsburg, Kan.; his parents, Kelly and Kristull Wingert, of Nevada, Mo.; his siblings, Rylee Wingert and Holly Wingert, both of Springfield, Mo.; and maternal grandmother, Diana Wooley, of Nevada, Mo.

Obituary - Kathryn Kay Bramble

Kathryn Kay Bramble, age 73, of Raymore, Missouri passed away on Saturday, September 4, 2021 in Kansas City, Missouri.

A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at St. Catherine of Siena Parish, 4101 E 105th Terrace, Kansas City, Missouri 64137. A funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. at the church followed by interment at Raymore Cemetery in Raymore, Missouri.

Kathryn was born in Clarksburg, Missouri on May 24, 1948 to Robert Powell and Lorene Pauline Powell. In 1991 she was joined in marriage with her husband Jay Bramble. Kathryn was a woman of Catholic faith, attending Mass at St. Catherine of Siena Parish in Kansas City, Missouri. In life she enjoyed cooking, taking care of her family, and attending car shows. Kathryn was a good friend to everyone and was always comforting to her family when needed.

Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Powell and Lorene Pauline Smith; and two sisters, Karen Powell and Ruth Lorene Powell.

She is survived by her loving husband of over thirty years, Jay Bramble; five sons, Robert Marcy, Mike Bramble (Michelle), Jay Bramble (Lori), Kevin Bramble (Holly), and Matthew Bramble (Amber); thirteen grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
