Clinton School placed on short lockdown today

For a short period of time this afternoon, all Clinton School District schools went on a soft lockdown. Students and staff were not allowed to leave the building, but the school day continued as normal inside.

This was due to a situation outside our schools in which law enforcement were searching for a suspect.

We have received the "all-clear" from law enforcement, and will continue with dismissal as normal at all of our buildings.

Marlene Wainscott receives the Rosemary Plitt Award for Excellence in Election Administration

Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft had the privilege to be here and announce the recipient of the Rosemary Plitt Award for Excellence in Election Administration.

Rosemary Plitt, who passed away in 1986, was the Director of Elections for the City of St. Louis for many years. She was an active member in her church, her party, and the community. This award was established to honor those, like Rosemary, who have made significant contributions to elections.

This year’s Rosemary Plitt award recipient has decades of experience as an election official and has used humor, faithfulness and calm under fire to become an exemplary public servant. - A valued member of their community, this individual is an active member at church and the chamber of commerce. -

This person began their career over 40 years ago, as deputy county clerk for 18 years and as county clerk for another 26 years. - It’s estimated this year’s recipient has worked 130 elections – facing… and overcoming, several obstacles in the 2020 presidential election cycle - including breaking 6 ribs and her sternum in a car accident just weeks before the election. -

She has served on a number of MACCEA committees, most recently, Mentoring and Bylaws. - She is a loving mother of two sons, and grandmother to three granddaughters. -

Please help me congratulate to this year’s recipient from Bates County - Marlene Wainscott!
