Obituary - Betty Sue Stainbrook

Betty Sue Stainbrook, age 80, passed away on Thursday, September 30,2021. She was born on May 2, 1941 in Kansas City, KS to Paul and Mildred Stainbrook. Betty was raised in Overland Park, KS and graduated from Shawnee Mission North High School in 1959. After high school, Betty continued her education in Emporia, KS at the Kansas State Teacher’s College where she was also a member of the Alpha Sigma Alpha sorority. 

Although Betty began her employment in Wichita and Shawnee Mission, KS, she spent most of her career working as a physical education teacher in the Linbergh School District in St. Louis, MO. She shared many fun adventures antiquing, traveling, and golfing with her lifelong friend and companion, Joy Aubuchon.

Betty is survived by her sister, Marilyn Triebel (Ralph), nephews- Mark Stainbrook, Scott Triebel, Ryan Triebel and niece, Deanna Pittman.

She is proceeded in death by her parents, Paul and Mildred Stainbrook, Bob Stainbrook (brother), Brian Stainbrook (nephew) and Joy Aubuchon (lifelong companion and friend).

Funeral service will be 11 am Friday, October 8, 2021 at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, La Cygne Chapel. Burial in Prairie Home Cemetery. All are welcome to join the family for a meal following the burial. Visitation will be from 10 am to service time at the La Cygne Chapel. Total CLOSURE of I-49 at Main Street in Grandview scheduled for October 8th-11th


JACKSON COUNTY– The City of Grandview with the assistance of MoDOT will CLOSE northbound and southbound Interstate 49 at Main St. in Grandview, MO beginning at 9 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 8, until approximately 5 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 11. This closure is for the demolition of the southbound I-49 turnaround ramp and is part of the City of Grandview’s I-49 Outer Road Conversion Project. All I-49 traffic will be routed around the closure via the Main St. on and off ramps. During this time, Main St. over I-49 will also be CLOSED. Motorists will need to follow the signed detour or use alternate routes. All work is weather permitting.

Please be patient and considerate to your fellow motorists. Use the zipper merge and take turns at merge points. Please remember that all work zones are NO PHONE ZONES. Buckle up. Phone down. Motorists are reminded to slow down and pay attention while driving in work zones. Not all work zones look alike. Work zones can be moving operations, such as striping, patching or mowing. They can also be short term, temporary lane closures to make quick repairs or remove debris from the roadway.

Obituary - Charles Leon Holmes

Charles Leon Holmes, age 85, was born August 8, 1936 on his parents farm near Prescott, Kansas the son of Harold S. and Marguerite Coon Holmes. Leon lived his entire life in the Prescott Community attending grade school at Shiloh and Prescott and graduated from Prescott High School in the Class of 1954. He was a member of the National Guard Battalion A. 

He drove a truck for Stevens Produce in Prescott and Joe Rei Trucking in Blue Mound. He then became a full time farmer. He was united in marriage to Marilyn Pinkerton on June 11, 1961 in the Mantey United Methodist Church. They are the parents of one son, Larry Lee Holmes. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Milton and Jay, a sister, Elma Casida Avery and a nephew Jay Lee Casida. Leon is survived by his wife, Marilyn, son Larry Holmes, four grandsons, Larry Leon(Chip), Levi Joseph, Luke Donovan Lee, and Lane Laford, three great grandchildren, Kenny, Brailee and Lillian, four nieces and three nephews.

Graveside funeral service will be 11 am Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at the Prescott Cemetery. Individual respects and guest registry 9 am to 4 pm Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Pleasanton Chapel. Pleasant October Weather



For the Kansas City area, it’s going to be mainly dry through Thursday with seasonal temperatures. There may be some isolated showers in central Missouri Tuesday afternoon. Precipitation will be more scattered on Wednesday, and some may make it into the Kansas city area.

But the best chances will be across central and eastern Missouri. The KC area looks dry on Thursday with rain chances across central and northeastern Missouri eastward.

Obituary - Jerry Larkin Steele

Jerry Larkin Steele, age 79, of Raymore, Missouri, passed away at home on Sunday, October 3, 2021 surrounded by his loving family.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 9, 2021 at Cullen Funeral Home, 612 W. Foxwood Dr. Raymore, Missouri 64083. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Inurnment with military honors will follow at 2:45 p.m. at Floral Hills Cemetery in Kansas City, Missouri

Jerry was born in Kansas City, Missouri on August 21, 1942 to Thomas Larkin Steele and Gladys Louise (Cole) Steele. Jerry graduated from Ruskin High School and continued his education receiving an associates degree in Horticulture. Jerry served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War from February 1967 to August 1968. He was a part of the Airborne 101st Paratroopers.

In the spring of 1972, Jerry was joined in marriage with his wife, Donna (O’Connor) on April 21st in Grandview, Missouri. Jerry was a man meant for the outdoors as he enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, and riding motorcycles. Jerry would also want others to know that he played a role in The Green Berets with John Wayne. He rode bareback broncs and Brama bulls in the rodeo, and he raced big class motorcycles 650cc in the TT Scrambles. Jerry was a big fan of Native American artifacts and later in life enjoyed collecting memorabilia, arrowhead hunting, and crossword puzzles.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Gladys Steele; brother Thomas Steele; and sister, Carol Faulkner.

He is survived by his loving wife, Donna Steele; son, Lance Nickel Steele (Tracy); two daughters, Teresa Clouse (Richard) and Heather Wright (Kevin); brother Robert Steele (Debbie); six grandchildren, Joshua Clouse (Kasey),, Amanda Wong Loi Sing (Nathaniel), Christen Reger (Troy), Meagan Wright, Caleb Wright, and Adam Wright; and seven great grandchildren, Elizabeth Clouse, Skylnn Reger, Amelia Clouse, Jovie Wong Loi Sing, Zoey Wong Loi Sing, Isiah Wong Loi Sing, and Archer Reger.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to The ALS Association Mid-America Chapter, 6405 Metcalf Ave., Suite 205, Overland Park, Kansas 66202.

El Dorado Springs woman injured after striking deer in the roadway

On October 4th around 8:27am the Missouri State Highway Patrol in St. Clair County along with St. Clair County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a one vehicle accident on Missouri 82 Highway around 3 miles west of Roscoe.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2020 Toyota Corolla driven by 40 year old Emma L. Copenhaver of El Dorado Springs, Missouri stuck a deer and traveled off the left side of the roadway. 

Emma L. Copenhaver sustained moderate injuries and she was transported by ambulance to Citizen's Memorial Hospital in Bolivar, Missouri for treatment.

Obituary - Jacqueline Faye Maxine Love

Jacqueline Faye Maxine Carter Love, 84, left this earthly world on September 28, 2021 at KU Medical Center after a brief illness. She was born on July 11, 1937 in Mishawaka, Indiana to William L. Carter and Mary E. (Quier) Carter.

Jacquie was the middle child of 13 brothers and sisters. Their family was very close; her sisters were her best friends all through her life. Jacquie had an infectious laugh and was loved to be around people and loved to dance. But most of all she loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In 2017 Jacquie moved to Missouri to live with her daughter and quickly became a snapchat sensation in videos made with her granddaughter Amy. She made many friends while in Missouri. She attended the races to watch her grandson race and attended the high school football games. Jacquie quickly became an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan, she loved her Mahomie, and stayed loyal to her favorite college team, Notre Dame. She enjoyed her monthly domino games with her granddaughter Shannon and watched great grandsons swim meets on you tube.

Preceding Jacquie in death was her son, Mark, her son-in-law, Chris, and her brothers, Billy, George, and Gene. Waiting for her at her place at the heavenly table were her sisters, Iris, Elnora, Vernie, Betty, Mary, Zelda and Marcie.

She is survived by her daughter, Shelly (Mikki); daughter of her heart, Helen; granddaughters, Shannon, Amy (JR), Regina (TJ); grandson, Mark; great-grandchildren, Jaren, Carter, Preston, Silas, Camdynn, Olivia, Alicia, and Kava. She is also survived by her brothers, Walt, and Nick (Vickie).

Jacquie was the light in our lives that kept us strong. We will miss her every day of the rest of our lives. Godspeed mama, I will miss you every day until I get my place at that table.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, October 11, 2021 at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada.

She will be cremated and planted as a pink dogwood tree as was her wish. Any donations can be made in her name to the American Cancer society in care of the funeral home
