Obituary - Glenda Beth Sipes

Glenda Beth Sipes, 63, Nevada, MO passed away on Sunday, October 24, 2021 at St. Lukes Hospital in Kansa City, MO. Glenda was born July 31, 1958 in Monticello, AR to Earnest F. and Connie V (Doss) Melton. She married Larry Wayne Sipes on January 4, 2005 in Nevada and he survives of the home.

Glenda was raised in Monticello and Pine Bluff, AR. In 1999 she came to Nevada and worked at Nevada Regional Medical Center for 14 ½ years in the dietary department. She enjoyed playing cards, and dice with other friends and family, and occasional trips to the casino.

In addition to her husband Larry, survivors include one son, Randy Thompson, Arlington, TX, and a granddaughter, Victoria Thompson. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Clennon, and a sister, Janice.

A private Celebration of Life will be hosted by her family.


Runaway juvenile from Belton

Last seen Saturday 10/30/2021 around 2:30 p.m. in Belton.

Lazarria left her residence wearing black sweats and black hooded sweatshirt and a white scarf on her head.

She sent a message to a family member saying she was safe but turned off her cell phone after.

Adam Robert Umstattd, age 43 of Johnstown, Missouri died Saturday, October 30, 2021 at his home in Johnstown. He was born September 16, 1978 to Robert Donald and Judith Lynn Schmedding Umstattd in Butler, Missouri.

Adam is survived by his parents, Robert and Judy Umstattd of Johnstown, Missouri; two sisters, Christy Purl and husband Chris of Kansas City, Missouri and Patricia Munsterman and fiancé Brian Bauer of Deepwater, Missouri; paternal grandmother, Marjorie Umstattd of Butler, Missouri; four uncles, Nicholas Schmedding of Montrose, Missouri, Dale Schmedding and wife Karen of Sedalia, Missouri, David Dudley of Drexel, Missouri and Dennis Umstattd and wife Marsha of Butler, Missouri; an aunt, Kathy Fjsoer of Peculiar, Missouri; nieces and nephews, Catie Munatt, Carly VanKirk, Jake Purl, Ella Purl, Brady Munsterman, Tracy Munsterman and Blake Munsterman; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Donald "Swede" Umstattd; and maternal grandparents.

Obituary - Evelyn May (Hartzler) Smith

Evelyn May (Hartzler) Smith, 89, passed away Thursday, October 28, 2021 at Greencroft Healthcare. She was born May 24, 1932 in Cass County, Missouri to Clarence and Nellie (Yoder) Hartzler.

On June 27, 1956 she married Maurice E. Smith in Garden City, Missouri.

He survives along with three children, Gail (Randy) Blosser of Goshen, Stanley (Carolyn) Smith of Elkhart and Susan (Milad) Hanna of Goshen; eight grandchildren spread from Pacific to Atlantic; 7 great-grandchildren plus one on the way; and two sisters, Mary Kathryn Yoder and Esther Hartzler, both of Harrisonville, Missouri.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Kenagy and Ethel Hartzler; and a brother, J.T. Hartzler.

Evelyn was a member of East Goshen Mennonite Church and a life member of Arkansas State Teachers Association. She had a masters degree in education and was a Kindergartener and Elementary teacher. She enjoyed amateur radio and crafts and was very creative, photographed nesting and feeding birds. She wrote a book of wildflowers of Izard County, Arkansas and identified butterflies and mushrooms.

Visitation will be Tuesday, Nov. 2 from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service at East Goshen Mennonite Church. Pastors Merle Hostetler and Naomi Yoder will officiate. An additional visitation will take place Thursday, Nov. 4 from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service at Sycamore Grove Mennonite Church in Garden City, Missouri.

Burial will follow at Clearfork Cemetery, Garden City, Missouri.
