What: Bates County Route O CLOSED one mile north of Bates County Route B east of Rich Hill

 

When: 8:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m., Wednesday, November 3

 

Details: MoDOT crews repairing hole in pavement on Route O

 

Traffic Impacts:

  • Both lanes of Route O CLOSED where crews are set up working
  • Drivers will be able to access driveways and entrances on either side of the work zone, but will not be able to travel through the work zone
  • No signed detours
  • Signs and message boards will alert drivers approaching work zone
  • Drivers urged to find alternate routes

 

(Weather and/or scheduling conflicts could alter the work schedule)

Congratulations to the recent graduates of the Cass County Sheriff's Office Citizen Academy



Congratulations to the recent graduates of the Cass County Sheriff's Office Citizen Academy.

The Sheriff's Citizen Academy is an 8-week program, in which courses are held once per week for 8 weeks. Participants gain knowledge about the operations of the Sheriff's Office through classroom and hands-on instruction. Participants also have the opportunity to ride along with a patrol deputy, work with jail deputies and observe communication officers.

“Our citizen academy is always an exciting time to meet people and share information about the men and women of the Cass County Sheriff’s Office who protect our county,” said Sheriff Jeff Weber.

The Sheriff’s Office will offer the next class in February 2022. For more information go to cassmosheriff.org/citizen

Obituary - Joyce A. Runyon

Joyce A. Runyon, 85, of Adrian, Missouri, passed away Friday, October 29, 2021 at her home. 

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Thursday, November 4, 2021 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, MO. 

The family will receive friends Thursday, 11:00am until service time at the funeral home in Harrisonville. 

Burial to follow at the Belton Cemetery, Belton, MO. A complete obituary will be posted when it becomes available.


Peculiar man seriously injured in early morning Cass County Crash

On November 2nd around 6:44 a.m. the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Cass County along with Cass County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a two vehicle accident at Missouri Route 2 and C Highway.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2009 Nissan Versa driven by 88 year old Eugene L. Davis of Peculiar, Missouri turned into the path and was struck by a 2020 Ford F-550 driven by 48 year old Eric L. Vergouven of Harrisonville, Missouri.

Mr. Davis sustained serious injuries and was transported by Life Flight Eagle to Research Medical Center in Kansas City for treatment.

Both vehicles were towed from the scene of this accident by J's Southland Tow.

Obituary - Maxine "Max" Hackler

Maxine "Max" Hackler, 89, of Drexel, Missouri, passed away peacefully at her home, Sunday, October 31, 2021.

Funeral services will be held 10:00am Saturday, November 6, 2021 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, MO. Burial in the Everett Cemetery, Archie, MO.

The family will receive friends 5:00-7:00pm Friday, November 5, 2021 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville. Contributions may be made to the Everett Cemetery, Drexel School Foundation, or the Archie PTO. A complete obituary will be added when it becomes available.

Obituary - William “Willie” Stevens

William “Willie” Stevens, 71 of Adrian, Missouri passed away Friday, October 29, 2021 at his home in Adrian. Cremation, with services to be held at a later date.

William Austin Stevens was born December 25, 1949 to Homer and Goldie Stevens. He grew up in Drexel, Missouri and graduated from Drexel High School in 1967. After graduation Willie served in the US Army. He worked for many years for Thorco before retiring. He loved to play video games, sci-fi movies, books of the Renaissance era and his many cats. Willie found thrill and excitement in rattlesnake hunting and storm chasing.

He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter Carrie Crosswhite. Willie is survived by his son Tyler Stevens, grandchildren Ava Stevens, Henry Stevens, Thomas Stevens, Shayna Hunter, Kyle Crosswhite, Jeremy Crosswhite and great-grandson Liam Hunter.
