Obituary - Michael Verne Hamilton

Michael Verne Hamilton was born August 11th, 1946 in Wichita Kansas to Verne Mathison Hamilton and Edna Louise Hamilton (McCandless). Mike passed away at his home in Deepwater, Mo., on Thursday, December 9, 2021.
Mike was born in Wichita Kansas where he spent the majority of his childhood. From 1946-1962 he spent his days playing baseball, football and flying remote control airplanes in the Kansas sun. He also enjoyed playing in creeks and hunting with his father. His time with his father sparked a love for hunting and the outdoors. As he grew so did his love for hunting, fishing and all things outdoorsman. In his adult life, he spent many hours on guided trophy hunts and in bass boats and fishing competitions all across the nation that he loved so much. Professionally, Mike served his country contractually, working for The Boeing Company, of which he gave 40 plus years of devoted service. During his time employed at Boeing he was part of the MinuteMan II Program, a group of skilled and dedicated workers known as “The Minute Men” who crossed the nation enabling the National InterContinental Ballistic Missile Program. Known to each other as “The Boeing Gypsys” due to the nature of their travel, they were named the Minute Men in spirit of the civilian colonists who despite a lack of military enlistment stepped up in a time of national need to serve their country. While the Colonists were ready to rapidly deploy in response to threats of war, the minute men of Mike’s generation helped rapidly build and employ the MinuteMan II program helping the nation to win the cold war. This was his hardest and most favorite program that he worked. The Minute Men faced long physical hours and extreme temperatures. His longest workday was 36 hours straight, but he felt as though “it was the best team of men and women I had ever worked with in all of his time at Boeing”. Despite the challenges, he persevered and always accomplished the most difficult jobs. Ultimately, consistent with the spirit of the minute man, he saw his work as service to the nation and the men and women of the armed service. He was very proud to have helped protect our country with the product that he helped build. He also was in Alaska as a Welding inspector for Boeing, which was a construction branch of The Boeing Company. He enjoyed that job as well. He said he liked the experience of having, “All your food you could eat for free, three times a day and they would give you more if you could handle it.” He also prided himself on his standards and firm foundation of never playing politics or trying to falsely appease someone. He started at the bottom and worked his way up to managerial positions. Although he liked obtaining those positions he didn’t care for managing, simply being a hard worker and getting things done. He ultimately progressed to work on such programs as various Boeing commercial airplanes, the B-2 stealth bomber and AWAX program. Mike retired and moved from Washington State to Clinton, Mo., between 2016-2017. He enjoyed feeding and watching the birds in the early morning, working with his guns, improving his home and spending more time connecting to the nature that he loved and his family. Mike spent his last days still working hard but also taking the time to savor the beauty of well deserved retirement. Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Verne (Bus) Hamilton and Edna Louise. Surviving his passing are his son, Michael Brandon Hamilton and wife Ashley Hamiton with their 3 Children Chase Michael (11), Allison Reagan (8) and Hensley Belle (7) Hamilton all of McKinney, Texas. His daughter Sarah Lynne Burden and husband Aaron Burden with their 4 children Olivia Joy (11), Annabelle Grace (8), Madelynne Mae (6) and Tristan Garrett (5) all of Holden, Mo. Graveside services and interment will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at the Bethlehem Cemetery, Clinton, Mo. Arrangements are under the direction of the Bradley & Hadley Funeral Home, Clinton.
