Obituary - LaVerne Jackson

A viewing for LaVerne Jackson of Butler, Missouri will be held 1-4 p.m. Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel (660-679-6555) in Butler. 

Gravesides services will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 16 at Adam Howell Cemetery near Amoret, Missouri.

Velma LaVerne Jackson, age 92 of Butler, Missouri died Monday, Dece,ber 13, 2021 in Butler. She was born October 31, 1929 to Robert Martin and Rosie Irene Bertina McMillin in St. Clair County, Missouri.

LaVerne is survived by her son, Stanley Jackson of Butler, Missouri; two daughters, Patty Chapman and husband Roger of Carrolton, Texas and Judy Lewis and husband Mark of Guyman, Oklahoma; daughter-in-law, Mary Jackson of Butler, Missouri; five grandchildren, Fawn Nichols and husband Matt of Carrollton, Texas, Heather Rice and husband Justin of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Joshua Jackson and wife Amanda of Butler, Missouri, Amber Jackson of Kansas City, Missouri and Ashley Miller and husband Chad of Butler, Missouri; and 12 great-grandchildren, Jaxon and Juliet Nichols, Brecken and Bennett Rice, Peyton, Brayden, Kelsey and Reid Jackson and Haley, Caleb, Linkin and Ronan Miller. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Orville Jackson; and one son, Robert Jackson.

Jack's wishes were to be cremated. Memorial services for Jack Zellmer of Lee's Summit, Missouri will be 2:15 p.m. Saturday, December 18, 2021 at Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel (660-679-6555) in Butler, Missouri. 

Visitation will be prior to services from 1-2 p.m. Saturday at Schowengerdt Chapel. Masonic services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Schowengerdt Chapel.

Jack Carl Zellmer, age 82 of Lee’s Summit, Missouri died December 9, 2021 at Medicalodge of Butler. He was born August 17, 1939 to William Holger and Edith Hazel Hogue Zellmer in Foster, Missouri.

Jack is survived by his wife Patsy Zellmer of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; daughter, Pam Scott and husband Rex of Lexington, Nebraska; sons, Rick Zellmer of Hondo, Texas and Mike Zellmer of Genola, Utah; six grandchildren, Ashley Saulsbury and husband Jake of Lexington, Nebraska, Dan Scott of Kansas City, Missouri, Luke Scott of Springfield, Missouri, Nathan Zellmer and wife Ali of Genola, Utah, Rebekah Morales of Elk Ridge, Utah and Jake Zellmer of Wilton, Connecticut; five great-grandchildren, Jack, Charlotte, Adalyn and Henry Saulsbury, Maverick Morales and baby girl due in March; brother, Bill Zellmer and wife Pat of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; two sisters, Barbara Sherman of Springfield, Missouri and Patricia Root of North Tonawanda, New York; brother and sister-in-law, Ronnie and Sandi Beatty; sister-in-law, Chris McMurphy of Pleasant Hill, Missouri; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. 

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers-in-law, Howard Sherman and Vernon McMurphy; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Donald Miller.

House Fire in Adrian



Shortly before lunch this afternoon the Adrian Fire Department along with the Butler Fire Department responded to a house fire at a address of 124 E. 2nd Street in Adrian. 

The house was deemed a total loss and no one was injured. 
















Obituary - Bruce Marshall Williams

Bruce Marshall Williams, age 72 of Belton, Missouri died Sunday, December 5, 2021 at North Kansas City Hospital in North Kansas City, Missouri. He was born July 26, 1949 to Marshall and Lois Ruth Ackroyd Williams in Jamestown, New York.

Bruce is survived by three sons, Ron Williams of Belton, Missouri, Mark Williams of Harrisonville, Missouri and Matthew Williams of Belton, Missouri; mother, Lois Ruth Williams of Jamestown, New York; two sisters, Lisa Williams and Debbie Williams of New York; and four grandchildren, Mark Jr., Marissa, Jacob and Summer. He was preceded in death by his father; wife, Mary Kathleen Williams; a sister, Wanda McIntyre; and a brother, Steve Williams.


Power Outages in Nevada

We have received several reports of power outages in the city of Nevada at this time. 

Crews have been advised and are working on fixing the problem.

Obituary - Ellen Ann Moore

Ellen Ann "Grams" (Butler) Moore , of Raymore, Mo, passed away peacefully on December 12, 2021. She was born in Oklahoma on November 30, 1931, and grew up in Illinois.

As an adult, she lived all over the United States and Germany with her husband Bob, who was in the Air Force. She studied education at the University of Hawaii, and was a passionate amateur genealogist. She published two books about her family history. 

She worked for the Social Security Administration, and enjoyed helping people. Her husband was mayor of Raymore in the 80s and 90s, and Ellen took pleasure in being part of the growing community.

Ellen was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Moore, and her sister Joyce Lloyd. She is survived by her sister Mary Sue Thomas, three children, Karen Mckinney, Richard Moore, and Shelley Byers, six grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.

A visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Monday, December 20, 2021 at Cullen Funeral Home, 612 W. Foxwood Dr. Raymore, Missouri 64083.
