A couple of strong storms possible tonight

Scattered showers continue this afternoon.

This evening, storms will develop mainly south of I-70. A couple of them could become strong to severe, with hail and strong winds being the main concerns.

Flooding is also possible with 1-2 inches of rain expected.


Obituary - George 'Mike' Michael Greufe

George Michael (Mike) Greufe, age 71 years, of Clinton, Missouri passed away May 1, 2022 at Clinton Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.

Mike was born June 25, 1950 in Clinton, Missouri the son of George John and Clara Mae (Boden) Greufe. Mike grew up in the Germantown/Montrose, Missouri area. He graduated, in the Class of 1968, from Montrose High School. After graduation, his family moved to Clinton, Missouri. Mike enlisted in the Clinton National Guard, 1970-1976. He was employed with Schreiber Foods, as a Material Specialist. Mike retired from Schreiber Foods in 2016, after 40 years.

Mike married Vickie Marlene Braun on February 26, 1971. Two sons were born to this marriage, Chris and Nathan. Mike was always involved in his son’s activities over the years. He coached baseball and soccer, and spent several years at Scout Camp which included float trips, and two trips to Philmont, New Mexico.

Mike enjoyed the outdoors. He loved taking his boat out fishing, and going out with fishing guides. He was especially fond of a fishing trip he took to Canada. If not fishing, you could find him on the golf course. Several trips were made, in-state and out-of-state, playing golf with his best friend, Wayne Hagan. One of Mike’s prides was his yards, always receiving compliments.

Surviving is his wife of 51 years, Vickie, sons; Chris (Jamie) Greufe and Nathan Greufe, four grandchildren; Addison, Avery, Alexys and Alexavier Greufe. Two siblings also survive; Frances Jackson and Linda (Mark) Engeman , and brother-in-law Dale Schroder. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Mike was preceded in death by a grandson, Braun Greufe, his parents and a sibling, Shirley Schroder.

Mike’s wishes were to be cremated, with no services.

Inurnment will be in the columbarium at Englewood Cemetery, Clinton, Missouri .

Arrangements are under the care of Vansant-Mills Funeral Home, Clinton, Missouri.

Structure Fire in Amsterdam

Around 1:45 p.m., this afternoon the Butler Fire Department assisted the Amsterdam Fire Department on a structure fire at a address of 8804 NW High Street in Amsterdam.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. Mid America Live will update when further information is made available to us.

Obituary - Suzanne Richardson

Suzanne Richardson, 94, Nevada, MO passed away on Sunday, May 1, 2022 at Moore-Few Care Center in Nevada. Suzie was born April 22, 1928 in Windsor, MO, the daughter of Woodford C. and Anne (Kunde) Hines.

Suzie grew up in Kansas City, KS and graduated from Wyandotte High School. Following high school, she came to Nevada and attended Cottey College where she met and married William D. (Bill) Richardson. Together they owned and operated Richardson’s Office Supply along with doing accounting for a number of years. Suzie was very supportive of her community and served on several boards. She was active in All Saint’s Episcopal Church, and PEO Chapter DW.

Suzie is survived by two daughters, Sally Mitchell of Springfield, MO, and Katie Pettibon (Fred) of Nevada; three grandsons, Jason Bound (Melissa) of Springfield, MO, Adam Pettibon (Amanda) of Nevada, and Colin Pettibon of Lenexa, KS; five great grandchildren, Selena Maples (Corey), Angelea Bound, and TJ Bound, all of Springfield, and Katie Ann Pettibon and Julie Pettibon of Nevada; four great-great-granddaughters, McKinzie and Jaylee Ward, and Jordan and Riley Maples of Springfield; and the loving staff at Moore-Few Care Center who loved her like their own for six years. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband Bill.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at Newton Burial Park in Nevada. Friends may call now and until the hour of service at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada.

Memorials are suggested in Suzie’s name to Nevada R-5 Foundation c/o Ferry Funeral Home.

Fern Marie Sliffe, age 95 of Butler, Missouri died Saturday, April 30, 2022 at Butler Center in Butler. She was born February 21, 1927 to Rudolph Brunke and Bessie Marie Braden Taute in Virginia, Missouri.

Fern is survived by one son, Randy Jones of Amoret, Missouri; two stepsons, Thomas Sliffe and wife Sandy of Overland Park, Kansas and Donald Sliffe and wife Cheryl of Bolivar, Missouri; one stepdaughter, Karen Grimes and husband Randy of Archie, Missouri; one brother, Verle Taute of Amoret, Missouri; five grandchildren, Darin Jones and wife Sheila, Richard Jones and wife Alisha, Shawn Edwards and wife Tamara, Cindy Jones and Danielle McKee and husband Jake; and 11 great-grandchildren. Fern was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Arthur Lee Jones and Harold Sliffe; one son, Mike Jones; one brother, Elmer John Taute; one daughter-in-law, Carole Jones; and two sisters-in-law, Wanda Taute and Grace Taute.
