John William Page, age 71, resident of Fort Scott, KS, died Friday, April 7, 2023, at his home. He was born April 27, 1951, in Fort Scott, the son of Chris and Clara Chaplin Page. Following high school, John served in the U. S. Navy. He married Erlinda Llanita on April 16, 1973, in the Philippines. John worked most of his life as a diesel mechanic in the farming industry. He enjoyed riding and breaking horses, fishing, mechanical and bulldozing work, and anything outdoors. He loved spending time with his family, especially the grandchildren. He was a great husband, father, and grandfather.
Survivors include his wife Erlinda of the home; 2 daughters, Christan Page (Gage Brooks), Fort Scott, and Joy Kuns (Robert) Bronson, KS; 6 grandchildren, Ashton Anderson, Jazlynne Anderson, Haddlen Brooks, Madalynn Brooks, Avery Kuns, and Adeline Kuns; and 3 brothers, Carl Joe Page (Vicky), Jerry Lee Page (Leanna), and Gary Ray Page. He was preceded in death by his father.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, April 12th, at the Cheney Witt Chapel. Burial will follow in the Hepler Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until service time Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the John Page memorial fund and may be left in care of the Cheney Witt Chapel, PO Box 347, 201 S. Main St., Fort Scott, KS 66701. Ribbon cutting ceremony for First Class Heating and Cooling in Harrisonville
Several people were on hand this morning for the ribbon cutting ceremony for First Class Heating and Cooling (Formerly Hon Heating and Cooling) located at 305 N. Independence St, Harrisonville, MO.
The guests enjoyed light refreshments and a look around the newly remodeled building. First Class Heating and Cooling is owned by Duane and Rhonda Woolsey.

Obituary - Gus John Maduros
Gus John Maduros, 73, of Belton, MO, passed away on Sunday, April 2, 2023 at his home. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, April 15 at 1:00 PM at Crescent Hill Cemetery in Adrian, MO.
Gus was born March 15, 1950 to John and Penny (Stathopoulos) Maduros in Hutchinson, KS. His family moved to Kansas City where he attended Paseo High School. After graduation, he entered the Army where he served for two years and was stationed in Korea. Gus worked many years for Midland Lithograph as a printer and in his spare time he loved working on cars.
He is preceded in death by his parents and longtime partner, Patty Connely. He is survived by his brother, George Maduros; his sister, Ann Maduros-Frank; his nephews: John Maduros, Zack Maduros, and Jacob Maduros; and his nieces: Abbie Conway and Kaylee Maduros.

Butler Bears Baseball gets big win over El Dorado Springs
The Butler Bears Varsity Baseball team stole the lead late in the game in a 13-3 victory over the El Dorado Springs Bulldogs on Thursday.
The game was tied at three with the Bears batting in the bottom of the fourth when Brandon Hammett drew a walk, scoring one run. Butler earned the victory despite allowing El Dorado Springs to score three runs in the first inning.
El Dorado Springs got things moving in the first inning, driving in one. In the bottom of the first inning, Butler Bears tied things up at three when Junior Cameron Anderson singled on a 1-2 count, scoring two runs.
The Butler Bears scored seven runs in the sixth inning. The big bats were lead by Brandon Hammett, Bryson Kash, Eli Cox, Peyton Jackson, and Cameron Anderson, all driving in runs in the inning.
Senior Zayn Carson was the winning pitcher for Butler Bears. Carson allowed one hit and zero runs over five innings, striking out eight. The El Dorado Springs started the game. The hurler lasted four innings, allowing two hits and four runs while striking out four.
The next pitcher for the Bulldogs threw one inning out of the bullpen. Brock Lines started the game for the Butler Bears. The pitcher lasted one inning, allowing three hits and three runs while striking out one and walking one.
The Bears racked up ten hits on the day. Cox, Anderson, Jackson, and Kash each racked up multiple hits for the Butler Bears. Kash, Jackson, Anderson, and Cox each collected two hits the lead the Butler Bears.
Butler Bears stole nine bases during the game as three players stole more than one. Cox led the way with two.

We are very excited about our upcoming 1st annual Butler FFA labor auction which is to be held on Saturday, April 15, from 7-9. Everything will be held in the high school cafeteria.

Update: 78 year old Pleasant Hill woman charged in bank robbery
Today, 78-year-old Bonnie Gooch, of Pleasant Hill, was charged by the Cass County Prosecutors Office with Stealing or attempted stealing from a Financial Institution, related to the April 5th bank robbery at Goppert Bank.
Gooch is currently in custody and has a bond of $25,000 cash only.

St. Clair County Sheriff Lee Hilty reported deputies made arrests and took multiple reports during the week of March 28, 2023 through April 3, 2023.
On March 28, 2023- St. Clair County Deputies arrested Shannon Greenwell at the St. Clair County Sheriff's Office on a St. Clair County warrant for Domestic Assault- 3rd Degree. His bond is set at $20,000 cash only.
On March 28, 2023- St. Clair County Deputies responded to a domestic disturbance call in Appleton City. Corey Caswell was arrested for domestic assault and transported to the St. Clair County Jail.
On March 28, 2023- St. Clair County Deputies responded to SE 951 Rd for a call regarding sexual assault with a juvenile. Investigation is ongoing.
On March 29, 2023- St. Clair County Deputies arrested Breenah Redmond on South Bound Highway 13 and SE 400 Road on two warrants. He was arrested on his Lawrence County warrant for Failure to Appear on Family Offense. His bond for Lawrence County is $750 cash only. His second warrant was for Vernon County on Failure to Appear on Exceeded Posted Speed Limit. His bond for Vernon County is $120 cash only. He was transported to St. Clair County Jail.
