Clinton High School track athletes breaking records

We have history being made on this day!Your Clinton Cardinal Boys 4x100m Relay breaks a school record in Jefferson City. This former record was set in 2018 with a time of 44.57. That record fell today to some amazing athletes with a new time of 44.01. That also puts them ranked number 6th in the state!!!

That same group of boys in the 4x200m Relay breaks the school record that was set in 1999 with a time of 1:31.40. Today in Jefferson City boys run a 1:31.15!!! Your 2X CLINTON HIGH SCHOOL RECORD SETTERS consisted of:

Obituary - Guy Junior Jones

Guy Junior Jones, age 73, of Warsaw, Missouri, passed away Thursday, April 13, 2023 peacefully in his home. He was born on November 9, 1949 to Edith and Guy Jones Sr. in Lebanon, Missouri.

Guy grew up in Warsaw and graduated from Warsaw High School, Class of 1967. Following high school, he became a carpenter as well as he would find his passion for music. 

Guy started off by singing and playing his guitar in church. In the 1970’s he would begin playing and singing country music and later blues with various bands and band members.

He attended the Mt Zion Baptist Church in Deepwater, Missouri and put his faith in Jesus.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 4 siblings, Kenneth Jones, Catherine Veale, Shirley Greene and Ronald Jones.

He is survived by his 4 sons, Tony Jones (Felicia), of Deepwater, Larry Jones (Kris), of Deepwater, Missouri, Gary Jones (Kindra), of Warsaw and Scotty Jones (Sarah), of Elgin, Oklahoma, 15 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, the loving mother of his children, Pat Jones, of Warsaw, several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, April 20, 2023 at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church at 888 SSR-Z, Deepwater, Missouri.

Obituary - Anna M. Hale

Anna Marie Hale 61 years, passed away on Friday April 14, 2023 peacefully at home surrounded by her children. She had a long battle with renal failure. 

A Celebration of Life Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 PM on Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at the Vansant-Mills Chapel in Clinton, Missouri. Memorial contributions can be made to C.A.R.E. (Clinton Animal Rescue Endeavor) and may be left in care of the funeral home.

Survivors include her son James Allen Clason, her daughter Lacie Jo James (Douglas James) and her pride and joy grandson Alexander Smith James, her sister Darla Jean Brzuchalski (James Brzuchalski), nieces Dezeree, Rachale and Jessica, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her mother Jo Ann Hart and step father Lee Ray Hart.

She will be greatly missed.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Vansant-Mills Funeral Home in Clinton, Missouri.

Vernon County Route KK bridge over Dry Wood Creek closed for repairs

Vernon County – The Vernon County Route KK bridge over Dry Wood Creek west of Nevada will be CLOSED for up to 90 days while contractor crews rehabilitate the bridge starting the week of April 24, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.

Contractor crews will remove and replace the bridge deck/driving surface. The project also includes adding new barrier walls, object markers and permanent striping.

Traffic Impacts:
  • All lanes of Vernon County Route KK CLOSED where crews are working
  • Drivers will have access to entrances at either end of the bridge, but will not be able to drive through the work zone.
  • No signed detour
  • Signs and message boards will alert drivers approaching the work zone
Drivers urged to find alternate routes to avoid work zone
Check MoDOT’s Traveler Information Map for road closings/traffic impacts

Weather and/or scheduling delays will alter the work schedule.

The Dry Wood Creek bridge was built in 1960 and carries approximately 250 vehicles per day.

Total project cost: $717,000

Butler man arrested on several charges

In the early morning hours of Sunday April 16th the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Bates County arrested 36 year old Robert J. Harlan of Butler, Missouri after he failed to yield and led them on a chase.

Mr. Harlan was arrested for the following charges 
1.) Felony resist by fleeing 2.) Driving while intoxicated 3.) Driving while revoked 4.) Speeding 5.) Careless and imprudent driving 6.) No seatbelt 7.) Failure to yield to an emergency vehicle 8.) Driving the wrong direction on the highway 9.) Fail to signal 10.) Fail to stop for stop sign 11.) Fail to drive on the right half of the roadway 12.) No insurance

Robert J. Harlan was booked into the Bates County Jail in Butler and he is currently being held on no bond.

Obituary - Sharon S. Poisal

Sharon S. Poisal, 73, of Harrisonville, Missouri passed away April 15, 2023. 

Funeral services will be held 11:00am Saturday, May 6, 2023 at the United Methodist Church in Harrisonville. The family will receive friends 10:00-11:00am Sat. May 6 at the church.
