41 year old Peculiar man shot to death Friday morning

We are saddened by the tragic loss of life in our small community. At approximately 1am on 4-21-23, our officers responded to the 800 block of S. Peculiar Dr. for a shooting.

41 year old Bernard H. Putis III was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. One person was taken into custody, but he has been released, pending further investigation.

Shooting deaths are certainly a rare incident in our city, but as many have pointed out, there has been one inside Peculiar and another just outside the city limits within a week.

Even one is too many. Our Police Department will be continuing to investigate yesterday mornings very complex incident.
